How come that just 3 years ago Russia was supposed to become completely economically and geopolitically irrelevant, that her navy was dead and would never be rebuilt, that her MIC would collapse due to emigration and sanctions etc, and yet somehow her economy is growing faster than ever now and she's building the best modern warships in the world and everyone wants to be her friend again? What happened? Why is she so strong now?

>that her MIC would collapse
it is, multiple companies have gone under or are resizing despite the war economy sugar rush, also barely anyone wants to buy from them anymore given how shitty their weapons have proven to be
>and yet somehow her economy is growing faster than ever
it isn't.
>b-but muh GDP
yeah spending shittons on military stuff that provides nothing to the civilian economy and then gets blown up in ukraine is a bunch of nice economic activity that counts as GDP, the actual russian economy is collapsing and even putin is admitting they're having to reduce spending now.

it's hilarious that russia is basically putting its arm into a woodchipper and waving to everyone saying "no no i'm fine it's all good here, a-as a matter of fact we're doing better than before!"
and retards like you actually fall for it.

>what happened
nothing, outside of the coping mechanisms in your head
>and everyone wants to be her friend again
no? trump is like the one exception, the rest of the US views russia as an enemy and most of the world (especially the parts that matter) view them as either morally corrupt losers or just losers.
>why is she so strong now
she isn't.

it's a good thing you people are so fucking delusional, if you weren't you might have been able to stop russia from collapsing, but that's pretty much inevitable now.

Newfag war tourist detected. And no, people don’t hate on Soviet or even Russian gear but it’s always been just the cool gear that’s sought after (gas masks, camo patterns, chest rigs, AKs, SKSs etc) and not their politics.
Soviets in in the 70s up to Russia in early 2000 has a lot of cool shit. Ratnik-LARPers however are incredibly faggy. The beginning of the Ratnik program is about where the cutoff for aesthetics is. An AK74 with wood furniture, a sexy bakelite magazine and TQ around the triangle folding stock is kino. A ratnik’d soldier with an AK12 only around for parades with paper tigers like BMP-T, Armata and SU57 flying above (lol) is as soulless as it’s pathetic. Especially after we’ve seen what the average Russian soldier and mechanized unit ACTUALLY looks like and consists of in a real war.

be me
civilian ship designer at [REDACTED] bureau in St. Petersburg
dream job after university — design sleek, deadly warships for the Motherland
think I’ll be working on something like 22350M or a nuclear battlecruiser successor
first day, boss says “comrade, we need concept for Project 23900 amphibious assault ship”
cool.jpg
3 months later, order changes to “stealth destroyer for Pacific Fleet”
half a year later, now it’s “modular frigate for Arctic patrol”
2020 arrives, I’ve designed 4 ships that exist only in slide presentations
every one has a different turret because some General’s cousin owns a machine shop
half the time I’m re-rendering the same hull but with slightly different lifeboats
MoD budget gets cut to fund more “special military operations”
now our projects are “future conceptual” aka never happening
becomes 80% making sexy CGI renders for Navy Day videos
ship always shown sailing in calm sea with dolphins
missiles launch in perfect sync like North Korean parade footage
real Kuznetsov still in dock belching black smoke
my "stealth destroyer" in game engine looks amazing
even gave it a railgun for fun because nobody will ever check
2022 — asked to make animation of our “new” ASW corvette
same hull from 2014 but now with drone pad on back
also the sonar dome looks like a pregnant beluga
mid-project, minister visits
points at my render: “Comrade, too many antennae, NATO will notice”
replace with more antennae but paint them grey
2024 — designing “Project 23XX Next-Gen Missile Cruiser” for 2045 launch date
no engines yet because Ukraine made the last ones
design still approved
my 3D models have more operational hours than our actual fleet
meanwhile, shipyard workers fixing 1970s hulls with parts from Lada scrapyards
coworkers just call our bureau “Russian Wargaming” now
sometimes hide anime girls in texture maps just to see if anyone notices
nobody ever does
starting to think my only real export will be wallpapers for MoD PowerPoints

If you knew shit about the Jones Act you'd know it only really applies to tugs, riverine craft, and the coastal cargo haulers. Since nobody else has shit for navigable water ways, and I mean with dredged 20ft+ shipping channels Chinkland and HueHue modflats you can fit a junk through do not count, is it any surprise?

>How come that just 3 years ago Russia was supposed to become completely economically and geopolitically irrelevant, that her navy was dead and would never be rebuilt
That did happen, I don't give a fuck about Ukraine other than it being the best entertainment in history but at the same time I don't root for gulaghomo just because i hate globohomo. Fake and gay shit remains fake and gay regardless of which faction of heebs are involved.

> Your ability to build supercarriers and nuclear attack submarines scales directly with the number of commercial container ships you churn out
Except it doesn't and didn't even back in WW2. I mean if we're going by the ability to churn out small modular reactors for naval purposes then pretty much its just the US and Limeys. Hell there are plans to just use the Naval reactors for civilian power generation, something I've advocated for over a decade. China isn't even producing supercarriers(their air wing is half the size and has shit sustainment so far) or nuclear attack subs(3 maybe decent ones, 3 shit ones, and an assortment of totally obsolete rust buckets worse than the ruskies') vs the 50 in US service which are replaced at the same rate as they retire. China mostly focuses on frigates with now a few potentially descent large destroyers since they've finally admitted they are a necessity.

If you saw conflict as more likely you could just expand shipbuilding capacity for naval use only in short order, it has been done before and modern destroyers have similar displacement to the various cruisers of WW2.

Absolutely. plenty of Sukhoi jets are beautiful.
they're also excellent model-makers, and I appreciate that as a craft.

shame they dont perform as well as they look. Or perhaps, its a good thing they dont perform as well as they look.

That comparison is stupid because it was built by Lürssen in Germany.
The Russians completed some destroyers with around 8000t displacement that had been laid down in Soviet times. They did order two Mistral class helicopter docks with 20,000t from France but the deal was cancelled in 2014 and the ships sold to Egypt instead.
