the secret service has the best toys. they're the ones that are seen in the famous photo of the failed assassination. the one where there's an agent front and center holding an uzi, ready to kill.
there is also known to be false arms for the presidents close detail. you look closely at the ones next to the president, and for some of them, you'll notice one arm never moves. that's because it's fake. the agent is discreetly holding some kind of long rifle/smg under his jacket.

The DOE gets literal miniguns and belt fed grenade launchers to defend nuclear material sites (see the leaked report about projected civillian casualties at LLNL), the NRO has the X37b and every "weather" satellite they've ever launched, and the NSA has manufacturer level hardware backdoors on every single computer in the country. As a local cop, feds are seen as clowns for the most part. They're all training and no experience, with the exception of Marshals and Border Patrol. Those guys actually experience some shit so have good skills. FBI, HSI, and even SS are a total joke. I've worked with them all, SS one two occasions during presidential and vice presidential visits. Their uniformed division is a bunch of diversity hires that look like a ragtag security company. Their close protection agents again are all training, no experience. But when you only have to actually do tactical shit every 20-40 years during an attempted assassination, that's what happens. They get rusty and petty about shit that doesn't actually matter. I did private close protection for celebrities and billionaires and it was like that, the company had one shooting in 42 years. It was a complete joke, they didn't even carry with a round chambered because the need didn't exceed the liability. None of the drivers were armed and the actual close protection guys were armed less than half the time. The owner was an anti-gun Jew. Billionaires really aren't safe at all, but that was private security not the government side.

Out of all of them, Marshals has the best talent and tactics since they recruit from existing talent pools and actually go after tough as nails fugitives. They're decently equipped but not as much as they need. Their cars were old pieces of shit while the FBI and HSI roll around in new shit they barely even use and look for work because there's none to be done. BP and ICE have the highest budget of them all right now, I'd wager they're buying some neat stuff. BP has periodically had access to DoD assistance and equipment. One of my coworkers was a reservist pilot and got to go play down at the border chasing invaders in a helo. Literally would fly right over them as they ran and lead them into traps lmao.

Oh since you're all equipment obsessed notrainings, SS has the coolest shit by far. Due to their unique needs they can get unique things that wouldn't really have an application in law enforcement. They need a machine gun that pops up out of the ground? Pay a company to develop it. Need an armored car? Practically unlimited budget to make it. It needs a machine gun on top? Smokescreen? Flamethrowers? Done. We need small PDWs to fit under our jackets? Here's some P90s. They definitely have some cool cutting edge shit. For handguns it's usually a Glock, not sure if they have a policy to allow personally owned guns but they would have to be from an approved list. Glocks are just too cheap for government agencies to get that they get them. The rich bougie police agencies where I live are switching to M&Ps and FN509s. The Glock jamming thing is as big of a concern to us as the Sig self firing thing, not sure why it's not talked about on here more.

They're also unarmed when they travel most of the time. Yeah there isn't some international CC permit that allows you to travel to any country armed. They try their best to get special approval but often they go without and adapt their tactics to just getting the principle off the X and to cover/safe zones. When i did billionaire protection we were never armed when traveling.

Nope, I live in a ~70% white area though. We had one HSI guy out on patrol, yeah I guess they do patrols, and he'd find the stupidest shit that obviously indicated he had no real law enforcement experience. They just hired some dumb college kid or cop reject. One time he calls for PD backup because he's got this "good stop" he's been following on the highway for a while. I rush out there thinking oh wow it must be something big. He pulls over an old native dude in a minivan with a mattress in the back because "that's a sign of human trafficking." The guy was working a construction job and was sleeping in the van between days. Story totally checked out but he just kept digging and digging, kept him detained for way too long grilling him about a big nothing. I wanted to dropkick him in his stupid fed face.

FBI don't do much outside their office but they'll go out and arrest a suspect in the area every now and then. They have a good number of straight up clowns, lots of diversity hires with no real experience. They're a good resource on bigger investigations, but HSI... they probably don't need to exist. It's obvious they're just federal government bloat. Just have ICE absorb them.

Nope, most have GDBA or Crisis24. I can speak for GDBA being an absolute fucking joke. They're at least trained for the type of thing in your gif. That was a perfect example, one handles the threat the other gets the protectee off the X and out of the area. That guy was loud and obviously running towards so he was easy to spot. A close gun threat and she's gone, they don't have a real counter for that. They can only hope he doesn't have a good first or second shot so vitals aren't hit before they can get her running and cover her with their own bodies.

They do select for size/fitness, typically they get to pick their own guards. Sometimes they just pick someone with a British accent because they think it's posh to have a bodyguard with an accent. Lots of stupid politics in that field, and in the end it's just private security BS. Celebrities aren't rich enough for real professionals who need 100k or more in California. For a full time schedule that's like 10 guards minimum so a mil a year plus whatever the company takes. Most celebrities can't afford a 2-3mil a year expense or just don't want to pay it, so get part time bodyguards who are just going to be fat security guards. Professional close protection is only affordable to the ones who own the celebrities, not the millionaires but the billionaires who see the cost as pocket change. The ones I guarded were all agents, producers, major corp owners, some people you've definitely heard of and many you haven't. Can't say who because I signed a billion year NDA.

Whenever there's a need to bolster enforcement of certain federal laws, they just make a new agency for whatever reason instead of putting the work on an existing one. It's broken up somewhat efficiently but there's some overlap. What doesn't make sense is Secret Service investigating money counterfeiting. That should probably be IRS or FBI. SS actually shouldn't really exist at all since Marshals handle close protection as well. They do judges and other high profile political figures, might as well do the president and congress members. I know a possible reason but it's controversial, and might be the reason why it's called Secret. They don't want ex cops in close protection because you see all the illegal shit rich people and politicians do and might report it or arrest them on the spot. Can't say what I wanna say because NDA and yes they do scour the web.

fun facts:

- the USSS is basically the Common Ancestor from which a lot of other agencies (such as the FBI) were branched off (in that the first agents of the FBI - then DOI - were all Secret Service employees). You might think that the Postal Inspection Service or even the US Marshals are the oldest, but nope! The oldest are... the Park Police (founded by O.G. Washington himself). Be sure to win a bet at a bar with this.

- the USSS was (and still is, in a way) primarily an anti-counterfeiting agency. Only in 1901 did they start protecting the president (and later on other officials). In fact, until 2001 they fell under the department of the Treasury.

- with 4/47 presidents having been assassinated, POTUS has a mortality rate of ~ 8.5%, making it technically the most lethal profession in the US by far. In fact, only 1 agent ever died protecting the president from an actual assassination attempt, so it's safer being a protective agent than the actual president.

The FBI is a domestic intelligence agency that often helps solve crimes, being part of the IC sets it apart. Within the various crimefighting agencies like DEA/HSI/ATF/Marshals there is a lot of overlap, but each one has a specialty where they've built up a lot of institutional knowledge, like I know ATF's thing is having longterm undercover agents.
I could be completely wrong, this is just how I've come to think of it because it's a confusing system.

if nothing else there's a lack of data. people always say "limpwristing is just an inherent problem of recoil-operated handguns and is exacerbated by lighter frames" and this seems to be true but no one is really doing tests to quantify it or prove that glocks are actually worse about it and not just known for it because they're the most popular handgun. you can find videos of people doing limp wrist tests with a handful of pistols on youtube but they're mostly glocks and metal-framed handguns. I have a hard time finding limp wrist test of most striker-fired polymer 9mms. is it harder to limp wrist a vp9 than a glock 19? I don't know, I can't find a single fucking video of anyone doing a limp wrist test on a vp9 and nobody else can either. it just ends up all being speculation, shitflinging, and brand whoring.

The data is there if you type limp wrist failure into Youtube and go through a few videos. It does not look good for Glock, it does by far the worst with the exception of a few random polymer guns doing just about as badly. /k/'s precious M&P doesn't do well either but the retards never seem to specify whether it's the 1.0 or 2.0 model. Either way polymer guns don't seem to do well at these tests, and I've seen failures in enough shooting videos to say ok I might fuck up too and want something that will mitigate the risk of said fuck up costing my life. I'm gonna look into a metal frame hammer fire, simple as.

Multiple calibers tested, metal and poly frame tested, different people testing, and they literally cannot get the 2.0 to malfunction. The 2.0 is an acknowledgement that polymer guns had problems and a solution. Meanwhile Glock with their gun they refuse to fix:

Multiple people, multiple models, failures across the board. Glocks are pieces of shit. What I take from these tests is you can either get an M&P or steelframe or be prepared for a failure. USP doesn't do too bad either but the only one I see not failing consistently is the M&P even more so than many of the metal frames.

>>64144691
5.7 will never be a duty round because it lacks penetration, it consistently can't pass the minimum 12" of ballistics gel. It's too light and lacks the mass a duty round needs, and btw this means it's not even up to par with handgun rounds let alone rifle rounds. The round struggles to pass light barriers like a car door and not deflect too much, a windshield absolutely fucks its effectiveness. They can zip through soft armor but don't do much on the other side because it's still a baby round. Tumbling only happens under ideal barrel length, velocity, range of target, composition of target. I'll take a heavy round that just fucks regardless of any factors any day, and really it doesn't need to be all that heavy. 9mm is sufficient, we are really talking about going BELOW 9mm for a duty round? It's getting a bit too small at that point, and 5.7 is almost half the diameter of 9mm...
