SA armies are for defense and semiisolated into 3 regions: Pacific, North Amazons and Rio de la Plata Basin
In the Pacific it would be Chile, in the Rio de la Plata (Southern) Brazil, in the North Amazons the Brazilian Air Force, the rest is irrelevant because Chile wouldn't be able to clash with Brazil under normal circumstances, unless there's a major coalition war.

Guessing the ability of the various armies in the world, save the US, is damn near impossible without there being some recent major conflict to evaluate and assess them on, like Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, or Armenia. Brazil, hypothetically is the strongest, but they could be a paper tiger who gets folded by Argentina or whatever.

The best ones are Colombia due to experience and Chile because they're actually well equiped.

Venezuela is only good on paper, god knows if all that slavshit that they bought is still on working conditions after years of financial disaster.

And Brazil is just size, their equipment still mostly shit from the cold war and so are their tactics, according to latam mil specialists. Basically jungle Russia.

Peru also punches above their weight since they're the ones who usually are getting into trouble, historically against Chile but currently they're shitflinging with Ecuador over a small island in the Amazon.

Nah Imo Brazil has that Portuguese fighting spirit and grit. They don't necessarily have the best equipment even though they have a large country to draw resources and recruits from. But what I think is their X factor is their manufacturing potential, if they really wanted to their MIC could make some good stuff.

Pretty accurate take, though I'd say Chile has the best training as far as mainline, infantry, cav, armor as well. Colombia has better special forces. It's also very much looking like Peru will have the best equipment in the near future as they're buying a lot of newer S. Korean and Euro stuff.

jungle russia but slightly less corruption and no deathcultish retardation that causes them to lose way more equipment and men than necessary.
they're actual humans, don't live in a prison country, and actually value life, so they'll save eachother and their equipment as much as possible in mortal danger instead of just standing there watching death approach and hoping that it kills as quick as possible.

>Brazil (sheer size and Embraer being competent)
>Colombia (due US support against narcos)
>Peru/Chile (they have a longstanding rivalry which is why they are this high)
>Ecuador (due being rivals with Peru but having less manpower and cash)
>Venezuela (let's face it, they are the true Russia of SA, with Brazil being US)
Argentina at a time would have been up there with Brazil, but after multiple "modern" governments and the usual western urbanite evolution don't expect much on their part.

Chile has the most modern and professional force, but its size is far smaller than other forces

Brazil has the manpower and equipment to reasonably take any nation in south america that isnt part of NATO

Colombia has sizeable manpower and training/equipment from the US to make them a powerful force

Argentine Navy officer
service motto is basically “budget cuts intensify”
fleet consists of:

a couple rusting destroyers from the 70s
one (1) submarine that hasn’t left port since Obama was in office
half the coast guard but painted gray
admiral still insists we’re a “blue water navy”
blue water is just sewage leaking into port

day of patrol
supposed to intercept illegal fishing boats
radar is broken, just have Ensign Pablo squint real hard at horizon
spot what looks like a Chinese trawler
go to intercept
engine dies
radio dies
coffee machine dies
crew morale dies

trawler just sails away laughing in Mandarin
we get towed back by a tugboat named “Maria”
Maria more seaworthy than our entire navy

budget meeting next week
solution:

buy another museum ship from Italy
rename it “Armada Invincible”
paint it in fresh gray paint
declare victory

The difference between Brazil and Russia is that Brazil is under no illusion about being a society of thirdie thugs, also, they are the inverse russians, where the spirit of Russia is suffering and spreading pain and death the spirit of Brazil is about joy and enjoying with others. This is why most of the time Brazil has never been an issue to the rest of SA and everyone wants to visit it at least a couple of time in their lives while you had to invent something like NATO to deal with Russia.

Never was and never will be the case. Argentina has been economically unstable for the last half century and that's putting it mildly. All industries up and left or were bought in the 90s, and what remained either left between then and now, went bankrupt between 2001 and today or simply downsized into irrelevance. We do not produce any of our electronics, cars, ship, etc. We're even lagging behind on beef and are importing it from Brazil.

Argentina was a regional great power - in 1982. The military juna being booted led to 40 years of military being intentionally starved of funds. not helped by the fact half their equipment was British who embargoed them and even many of their french aircraft used Martin Baker ejector seats. That's why their Type 42 destroyer fell over and sank at anchor and prior to getting some 80s vintage F-16s they had literally no jets.

Also the whole economy collapsing and defaulting on their sovereign debt 6 times in that same period. It's sad like seeing an old top rated boxer with dementia and no hands.

Nothing has changed beyond pensioners and retirees going from poor to destitute. He took on more loans, moved our remaining gold reserves to England of all places and hasn't fixed a thing while promoting crypto scams and defunding the public sector which in turn caused a vacuum in the economy. He barely clamped down on the bloat of the state while trying to coerce the population to front the deficit by giving up their savings in foreign currencies. Inflation is still a thing he has not and cannot solve, no matter how hard he tries to strangle the economy, which was already in the gutter and sinks further into the shitter with every gas and energy subsidy that's being cut. In short, things are worse for no tangible benefit whatsoever because his whole macroeconomic plan hinges purely on foreign investment that will never come. The infrastructure, the ease of accessing loans with reasonable interest rats, the financing, the security nets and most importantly the trust is not there. No business in their sane mind would invest here. His purchases of second-hand, overpriced cold-war leftovers are just the tip of the iceberg.

We already tried this shit throughout the 90s and in 2015 and it didn't work. Not only it didn't work, it made things much, much worse.

what the fuck is with those non-specific descriptions? Obviously half of them are patents improving an existing invention but it doesn't say that or specify what the improvement in design was it just says "lock", "mop", "horse shoe", "keychain" "riding saddles".

As if some nigga in 1880 would get his house burgled every night because no locks exist and he no keychain to put a key on anyway. All he has left is his wet dirty floor and a horse no one wants because there is no way to sit on a horse securely or protect its feet from debris.

nigel, the attribution problem is a fallacy as old as time, everybody is using it to prove their group invented something and others are just copying it

French Guyana is north of the equator so it should qualify as North Atlantic.
But the treaty specifies the Tropics of Cancer as the limit.
