Glock has had factory metal night sights. The plastic sights are preferable to non-illuminated metal ones because you're going to be throwing those stock sights away regardless and it's better they be made out of soft plastic so you don't scrape the finish removing them.

I got my first handgun, a Glock 17 Gen5.
Slowly I get better with the aim but to be honest, the sights are feeling like utter trash, being unable to aim properly after 7 yards.

Since the metal sights are the same size, are they really better than the stock plastic sights in that regard?
Any other suggestion for better sights?

Well that's the beauty of the glock. You don't have to upgrade anything. It's boringly functional out of the box and always will be.
So you can start with a regular Glock and get a feel for it and enjoy what you like about the pistol. And if you want something better, you don't have to buy another gun. If you make a change you don't like, you can just change back with again without having to buy another gun. It's also fun to modify things yourself.

For my money, I get the Tango Down slide stop and three dot metal night sights.

False, gen 5 grip texture is great. Just enough to do the trick without being too abrasive for IWB. M&P 2.0 is the only gun on the market that debatable does a better job, downside is it's a bit rough for IWB for some people

I'm not sure how it's the best overall when it has mediocre sights, bad grip texture, lower capacity for its size, a tendency to slide-bite and create uncomfortable/painful knuckles, more prone to grip induced failures than others in its class, hard to clean mags, a trigger that's longer and mushier than it actually has to be to work, and about 300 bucks more expensive than it should be. The main draw is that you don't have to take good care of it.

Slide-bite is very common on stock Glocks, as is the titular Glock Knuckle. That's why basically all aftermarket frames or Gen 3 alternatives enhance the shit out of the beaver tail and undercut the fuck out if it. The Glock's weight distribution also means you really need to be gripping it properly or you'll get feed failures. It's easy to say you'll always do that, but there's a mountain of evidence that says it's not always that simple.

9mm and .45 glock is fine. Nothing needs changed. If you change anything, you defeat the point of a glock. It is a standardized, maximally generic pistol that is available everywhere on earth.

.40 and 10mm glock is NOT fine because they use less supported chambers to increase feed reliability and hot ammo can blow out the case.

Follow this simple rule and glock happily

>>64133165
It's common with retarded shooters. Beavertails are fucking cancer for carry guns. "Yes I want to be stabbed in the stomach because its too hot to wear a jacket and carry strong side" -nobody.
>a mountain of evidence
Americans purposefully hire low IQ cops. This is not a conspiracy theory. Police departments have had to defend this explicit practice in court. Every "glock problem" only exists in the hands of american police who spend more time learning how to be paranoid when co-training with mossad than they do qualifying with their pistols.

>Slide bite
Fat hands problem
>Glock knuckle
Known issue with any firearm using a trigger dingus, it's called Glock knuckle because Glock popularized that style of trigger safety. Shooter dependent problem but a reasonable thing to have beef over for that small minority of shooters.

SAO style striker guns are a mistake. Hair triggers without safeties are a mistake. There is nothing that shoots as well as the G19 gen 5 without being notably less reliable, larger, heavier, or being meme tier in terms of availability and support. It is functionally one of the best 9mm handguns in its size range, well in to the point of vastly diminishing returns while being extremely ubiquitous. That is why it's the best.
>>64133191
>Any gen of hlock 19 is just that; a glock 19
If you actually believe this then frankly you should do more listening and less talking. There were meaningful design changes with gen 3, 4 and 5 for the G19. Everything I listed is truthful btw in terms of handguns owned, I went through a trading phase for most of my 20's.

I don't know about it being the only shortcoming. For example, a hammer with a rubber grip is easier to use than one that's just a shaft of wood. I'd say they'd probably equally good at driving force, assuming the other specs are the same, but more people would be able to use the one with a rubber grip with a higher level of proficiency. Pretty sure there's a field of study around improving tools..

No, that's trigger bite. Glock Knuckle is a painful welt or blister that develops on the middle finger as it rubs against the trigger guard. You don't actually see it as much for casual shooters, it's really more for people putting the time on the range since they're gripping higher and tighter.

I rage bought picrel and can't get it to jam even limp wristing or trying to make it fuck up. It's just fine if you train with it, parts/mags are everywhere and I finally like Glock. Yes it's retarded to sink tons of money into 'upgrades' but people rice out their Honda civics so I think it's a brown skin thing, people can spend their money however they want idgaf.

I have replaced the trigger with an apex on my G47 and while I like its feel on my finger, it's totally unnecessary. The closest thing I would maybe say that is worthwhile is replacing the striker spring with a 5 dollar 4.5 pound Wolfe striker spring which makes the trigger feel slightly better, but even that is completely unnecessary. >Glock isn't a race gun so it's bad
Glocks are generic self defense pistols, not range toys.

The trigger is not supposed to be nice, light, and crisp because it is the only thing keeping the thing from going off.
The OEM sights do suck but they were also designed to be easy to understand for adrenaline-pumped retards operating on minimal experience
OEM slide release is a skill issue. You're meant to pull the slide back instead. Remember, gun designed for idiots. European idiots, of course, hence the grip angle is euro standard despite how much it angers the american generations that grew up on revolvers and 1911s (it hasn't been a problem for people born in the 90s or later)
The springs work fine.
The grip texture is fine unless you are shooting in competitions or "operating". Which isn't really what these are meant for.
No manual safety is a design cue taken from DA revolvers

The glock is a semiatuomatic el cheapo double action only self defense pistol. Whining about it is like complaining.

The only real complaint about glocks is they should be cheaper.
Anonymous No.64138047
Glocks do not have slide releases. That's a slide catch. You do not send the slide forward with that, it's for locking it back. You grasp the slide with your left hand and pull it back and release it.

The M9 is certainly a good duty pistol, but it falls behind a Glock 19 in many aspects, that's why SF got smart during the GWOT and got Glock 19s with some procurement trickery. The M9 is much heavier and larger, so switching to activities that require concealing a handgun require either a dedicated concealment gun or being very uncomfortable; the M9 has a safety, and even though you could not use it, there is a chance that it could be accidentally engage, and to make things worse, it's in a very awkward position. Also, the M9 is more maintenance heavy than a Glock and chokes up in sandy environments.

So yes, the M9 is easier to shoot since it's heavier and has a better SA trigger, but is not as versatile as Glock 19 for duty/defense use

1. new sights to match the quality of the PDP
2. new barrel with proper rifling instead of memelygonal that chokes on hardcast lead to match the PDP
3. new slide to deal with insufficient slide serrations and retarded optics mounting to match the PDP
4. new grip texture because glock's is insufficient to match the PDP
5. new trigger (obviously lmao) to somewhat match the PDP
6. new magazine release because glock's is both difficult to get to and also unreliable compared to the PDP
7. new magwell because glock's design doesn't help with reloading like the PDP does from the factory
8. new magazine with increased capacity to match the PDP
9. recoil mitigation such as a compensator just to match the PDP
