Pretty cool, only problem is just that China has more drones and more drone production capabilities to flood the strait with their own drones that intercept to these suicide drones. Not to mention, China won't deploy their amphibious forces before attaining air supremacy over the strait, which means that Taiwanese suicide boats have to survive 24/7 UAV surveillance.

Taiwan isn't some fucked nation, 2/3 of them are willing to die rather than be captured and every single one of them has prior military experience.
Not to mention priority one is going to be landing 50,000 US Marines on the island and if that happens China's chances are about 4%

You can detect a surface drone with a sonar from kilometers away. You can literally hear an outboard engine 2-3 kilometers away while underwater and snorkeling, even if it so far away that you cant hear it trough the air. The success of ukrainan drones is a large extent due to russian technological backwardness.

Perhaps a stupid question, but how come underwater drones haven't rendered submarines obsolete?
Imagine putting sonar on a sacrificial platform that doesn't care if it's spotted, fire a torpedo at your target with that information, and unlike planes you have practically zero maneuverability underwater so you're dead the moment you get fired on.

I'm not talking about the Uyghurs picking cotton in Xinjiang for free, I'm talking about the drones working 70 hours a week to pay for a house the government can demolish whenever it wants and which you'll still be responsible to pay the mortgage on your newly demolished home with no value.
China is so heavily in debt from printing money it can't afford a war right now. It's people are so impoverished they don't know their government printed trillions of Yuan to keep the economy afloat after Covid. The Chinese people are being paid with printed scraps of paper with no value the government printed out of thin air to do real labor, that's what a slave is.
The slaves on the plantations got free housing, food, and healthcare too. It's about the same quality the Chinese get.

China's debt/GDP ratio is even higher than Japan's is. The reason China doesn't try to take Taiwan isn't because they can't, it's because their economy will collapse.
It's something like 300-400% while the US is about 121% despite having such a high debt.
Meanwhile, China is amassing warships and building massive cities to keep it's people working and they're printing money to do so, which works in the short term to improve a thirdie economy but China has been doing it for almost 30 years now.
In war, a full embargo will destroy China internally, and 1.4 billion Chinese will go back to eating each other just like they did in the 1970's.

>why are these naval drones always floating and never diving?

>price/complexity
you'll be able to make 20 effective surface drones for the price of one drone sub
>flexibility
you can deploy those 20 surface drones wherever you need them at short notice. drop them off from a fishing boat, get a container truck to the beach, airdrop them from planes; and they'll go the last mile themselves at speed. the sub drone you're describing operates in a more limited area at low speed and the communication issue limits possible uses.
>maintenance/logistics
suface drones tend to be deployed hours to days before they engage. The sub drones you're describing feels more like 'sea mine that can chase you down', and they'll need to be constantly deployed. so you need to figure out how to charge them, clean them, and maintain them on a regular schedule.
>surprise
they will be developing these. They're more expensive, used in a niche role, and a lot of the value comes from them not being seen. The first time you want an adversary to find out about it is when they start losing ships.

China will never attain air superiority. Even without the USA there, Taiwan has some very modern AShM and anti-air weapons.
We never publicized everything we gave the Taiwanese because the Chinese would throw a shit fit. Hardened communications equipment resistant to hacking and jamming, modern anti-air radars and weapons, guided rocket systems, avionics.
Taiwan is going to be a bloodbath for the Chinese. It's a trap and Xi Jinping knows it. The Chinese are itching for war just like the Germans were before WW1, and they don't understand that a second century of humiliation is forthcoming.

Basically all gains the Russians got were from vdv units conducting deep heliborne assaults followed by a retreat of Ukrainian units avoiding being encircled by follow on troops.

People are just fixating on the Kiev axis which was ultimately not successful and ignoring essentially every advance. Ground units unironically did worse see the entirety of the Donetsk front moving negligibly since the start and Sumy offensive completely collapsing.
