It's not even the reputable store's fault, is just that for every product that comes out, some muppet out there will just create a dropship brand to shave off a piece of their action in seconds with AI webpage creation and a few emails to a custom supplier in China.
There's literally bootleg products for everything, even on formerly decent aggregators like Amazon, your first results for a search aren't going to be name brands, even if you specifically query for them.
So when a place like KS comes out with their reproduction stuff or "alternative universe" manufactured goods, I automatically pan them as illegitimate in my head because I've been inundated with bullshit knockoff ads for years now, even though whatever they're pushing might be fine and fun as a lark.
