Idk man, everyone's different. You can tell the joules of a bullet because they have a standardized amount of grains in each case, but anaerobic strength varies from every person and even changes in individuals based on fatigue and diet. Best way to know is go to a gym with a punch force tester on the wall, any other answer would be hyperbole.

I think it was said at one point that Mike Tyson was good for ~1200 ft lbs of energy at his very peak or something like that.
I believe the average trained, athletic individual is good for ~400?

Its entirely dependent on the weight of the arm, how fast you can accelerate it and form for transfer.
Mike's was perhaps 800. AJs is also 800. Tyson Fury was 800. They use sensors and equipment, videos for calculations but the ones that claim 1200 are just silly. Most professional heavyweight fighters at the top end can only produce 800-900 in the very best of conditions.

You'd probably want to use psi (or pascals if you're French) to measure punch effectiveness.

Depends. If you are a well trained athlete you can punch pretty fast, like 12 m/s with a combined fist/arm weight of approximately 6kg, you can deliver something like 400-500 Joules of kinetic energy.

If you can just learn to punch harder and try to approach a double digit percentage of c for example, you can potentially deliver energies in the megaton range, easily.

It’s not as simple as fist/arm mass and velocity, right? Cause the whole thing is attached to your body, and braced up against your shoulder, and your core is torqueing.

Like if a punch was thrown at 20fps and a fist weighs 1 pound, and you cut my hand off and threw it at someone at 20fps, then it would be simple, but not when it’s attached to my body.

1200 ft lb would exceed the tensile strength of the bones in the hand anyway.

your intuition is correct since the whole point of rotating your core and driving your back foot is to throw your entire body weight into your punch. the quality of a puncher is usually a product of their weight, the explosiveness of their musculature through their body, and exactly how much of their weight they can throw around without falling over or pulling their rotator cuff.
Anonymous No.64141390
>>64140730
It's even more not that simple than you know, because a significant proportion of the impact of a fist comes from the continual force applied during and after contact. This means that two punches thrown by men of the same size at the same speed connecting at the same range can have wildly different effects on a target.
The fact that all the moving parts of different weights and speeds here are connected by joints with different levels of flexibility only makes it worse.

The hand in boxing is reinforced by tape, and padded by the glove. This lets boxers punch harder without injuring themselves. In bare knuckle boxing, injuries are more common.
Anonymous No.64141556
depends if that hand is the one you jerk off with

You're forgetting an important thing, which is that punching stuff frequently will toughen up the hand. The knuckles will get harder. The skin tougher. There's also a technique aspect. Boxers quickly learn to punch with the correct wrist angle every time, to absorb the impact better.

There's no standard way of measuring punch energy and it's basically bro science e.g. Mike Tyson can throw a 1 gazillion joule punch!!!!. OP is a faggot and knows this, asking an impossible question. You either measure speed of the fist and choose a mass based on the body part(s) of your choice, or you punch a bag of a known mass and base it on the speed/height it swings back. Both systems are easy to game, on the level of producing a magnitude of difference. A jab is fast but weak, so will game the chronograph-style method, while simply pushing will game the punchbag method. You can dictate a punch style or minimum contact time, but then the gaming will be on how close you can get without being declared invalid.
