I'm going through a dilemma right now, I'm actively looking for a new gun that I can use for pretty much everything from self defense to training and general shooting, not sure if competition too, but we'll see down the line.
The problem is that up until this point, every gun I've owned and carried had some sense of pedigree, I like guns that have history, are mechanically interesting or have some military track record, for example the first gun I purchased was a Springdale Armoury Loaded that I made into somewhat of a MEU(SOC) clone, after that I got a USP9SD, and more recently I've been carrying a M45A1
The thing is that I've grown tired 1911s and since this summer I've switch to pic related for carry, the thing is that I feel like it's too little gun for carry both in caliber and capacity.
So there, I'm open to suggestions, shill me your favourites

I wouldn't bother with pedigree. That criteria is arbitrary and complicates an already complex decision. It's a tool. Pick the best one for the job.

That could mean maximum capacity, lowest size, ballistic performance is secondary so long as it's at least 380. Trying to make your carry gun double as a fashion accessory is retarded because you aren't supposed to be showing it off, and God forbid you spend a fortune on something special just for sweat rust to wreck the finish or you use it and it ends up disappearing into an evidence locker.

Pedigree is important to me, it's a way to make sure that the thing has been put through the grinder and is not going to break a trigger spring or some other part in 300 rounds because 90% of its users just keep them in a drawer

The USP is too large for summer carry, that's why I switched to the PPK to begin with,the compact is an option I like, maybe try to get a set of heinie sights and a threaded barrel and make a clone of the SEALs edition HK made for the employees that worked on the MK23 and MK24 programs

PPK is fine for carry. If you want something better than a PPK then get a Beretta 80X. I pocket carry my 80X all the time and I’m average height and build.

Retard opinion. DA/SA is so much better for carry. It’s safer and overall easier to carry which means you’re actually going to carry your gun instead of leaving it at home because the holster is a pain in the ass to strap on.

The USPc wasn't well liked by SOCOM in general IIRC. The HK45c that replaced it was much better received. They're a very respectable, pedigreed, and interesting CC choice so that would check a lot of boxes too. They're pretty much the same size as a G19 too, so very edc-able.

G19. I'm a quite slim guy average height and I carry a G19.5 every day. I agree about the pedigree thing too, if the gun hasn't been used by the military or cops or in vidyakino I don't want it. Don't overthink it, Glock 19.

Either of these two are fine unless you're a hipster faggot. The 42 in a pocket kydex holster in summer and the 19iwb or owb under a jacket in winter. This way when the cops take my gun I can easily get another one while they sit on it for years and I don't need extra holsters or accessories. I decided to go for the 19 gen 3, pretty happy with it, bought it yesterday along with a set of Heinie sights that the shop installed for me and picked it up this morning, I kinda expected it to feel cheap, but it feels very solid, on par with the USP, I really like the striker fired trigger, I honestly regret not picking up one sooner
