Let's say some asshole like Rampage Jackson comes to you and, unprovoked, says he's going to kick your ass begins to get physical. You stand no chance in a fist fight and it's very likely he'll cause some serious bodily harm.

Is it justified to pull a firearm (and possibly shoot) in a situation when someone has a massive size advantage or has a background in combat sports?

There's no clear answer to this, but yeah, this is the exact shit that you discuss in CCW classes. If a power imbalance exists, like you're outnumbered or perhaps there's one opponent but he's much bigger/stronger than you then then the law is likely on your side. But really this is hard to discuss without specifics.

It depends on the state. Depends on what you mean by physical. In some areas you have a responsibility to flee if at all possible. Did he push you and yell? In some states no. Did he yell I'm going to kill you mutherfucker and come at you. Then yeah you will probably get away with that one.

IIRC yes you are justified, if the force disparity produced by size is obvious and if you have foreknowledge of his martial arts background. If a guy is your size and attacks you, you shoot him, and find out later he’s a black belt in some discipline, that won’t fly. You had to know before you shot him.

It generally depends on the legal jurisdiction because the threshold of what is considered a credible threat of death or serious bodily injury varies from place to place. This is usually a matter of state law and if not written clearly there is case law surrounding the issue.

In broad overview, somebody much stronger than the person being attacked is typically considered to be a significantly greater physical threat whereas an unarmed attacker of equal or lesser physical strength isn't.

In most pro 2A states if you didn't start it then it doesn't matter if the attacker is some 89lb DYEL. They are attacking you and you are covered by a stand your ground law, because even a weak person can potentially knock you over and you can bust your hand open on the ground, or grab your weapon, or produce a weapon that you can't see yet.

If it's a state with restrictive gun laws and overall weak 2A rights, it could be a different story. You could be prosecuted and the disparity of available force can come into question, even if you were purely defending yourself. In some cases even if you are in a wheelchair and the attacker is jacked, the prosecutor can argue that you shot an unarmed man but that argument would probably not sway the jury.

Idk what the law says but in my experience women can pretty much do whatever the fuck they want to someone for whatever psychotic reason is floating around their lizard brain and then justify it by claiming to be afraid after the fact and get off nearly Scott free. You don't even need to be knocked out, you can be disoriented for a second and that's enough for him to land another punch then another punch suddenly you're on the ground and he's stomping on your head.
