Should I oil the gas chamber? Will it make it easier to remove the filth that gets deposited there?

In basic I seem to remember being told that the barrel, bolt face/firing pin tip and gas tubes should be free of excess oil when firing.

I lightly oil all metal surfaces for long term storage but wipe the barrel, bolt face and gas tubes dry and add extra oil to moving parts on firearms that I am actively using.

POG
A well oiled AR is the only AR I will trust. Added bonus they clean quicker. A few drops down the key and lube the shit out of the rest.

Does anyone grease their rod before putting it back into the butt? I don't know if the hole gets moist enough to affect the rod, but it seems better to grease it.
