In basic I seem to remember being told that the barrel, bolt face/firing pin tip and gas tubes should be free of excess oil when firing.
I lightly oil all metal surfaces for long term storage but wipe the barrel, bolt face and gas tubes dry and add extra oil to moving parts on firearms that I am actively using.

I oiled the cylinder in my Model 34 because it had a harder time ejecting spent rounds and seemed tight like your mother's vagina due to the excessive oiling of her cylinder by >>64146683
Does anyone grease their rod before putting it back into the butt? I don't know if the hole gets moist enough to affect the rod, but it seems better to grease it.
