Final consensus on Sccy guns
So are they crap or decent and is the reason why they are hated is because they have bad recoil from what I heard

At least one of their models had a tendency to explode. The guns were briefly shilled for a while in spite of safety and QC issues, especially by r*dditors and it was not convincingly organic either.
If you want a compact/subcompact 9mm, it's best to just save up for something better.

its not fun to shoot but there are only like 5 parts to this gun and it is reliable. i own 2, the first was my first gun ever, the 2nd i sniped an auction ending in the middle of the night for $50 nib.
its basically a not ugly hipoint that has a snappier recoil. they're alright budget entries made in america.

in a world where you can get a brand name flagship model pistol for like 300 dollars (normally with a few extra mags) why tf would you cheap out on a succy?

like this guy that doesn't get that for poor people the difference between $200 and $400 is a lot of money.

they're ok guns. not fun too shoot, but they will shoot. and they had their market segment for poor people that wanted to buy american and did not want or could not legally buy a hipoint.

Not great, not terrible. The trigger is shit, feels like a toy gun's trigger, they have feed problems with hollow points, or polymer tips - even after polishing the feed ramp. But, I've shot 500+ green box FMJs through mine without a single problem. The recoil is somewhat snappy, but nothing to write home about. Only a complete pussy, or a woman, would complain about the recoil. Their warranty was bretty good, too. I had minor rust on the slide, called them, they told me to email pics of the slide with serial number, and they sent me a new one. They paid for shipping my old one to them, and the new one to me. People beat the living shit out of them on YT, and they continued to function like new, so, more than you can say for pistols 3x their price. And a bonus it's never went off in my holster like a P320, nor ever exploded like a Glock or jammed from "limp wristing". Those pistols being 3X it's price and supposedly having superior craftsmanship couldn't do what a $220 throw-away pistol could. And I liked the DA trigger, even though it feels like an oldschool toy gun trigger.

I think they're one of the better looking cheap pistols on the market.

probably the lifetime no questions asked warranty, or just the look of it when considering similar prices. they never had reliability issues besides their first runs of the cpx3, up until that point they were generally recommended as the bargain bin entry.

Did Ruger even offer a 9mm budget gun in the same price range as the SCCY CPX-2 gen 2? A cheap compact 9mm that holds 10+1 is hard to find, even now. Them and Kel-Tec are about the same, and no wonder seeing as the guy that started SCCY was originally at Kel-Tec. Kel-Tec's 9mm was good enough to kill St. Martin with one shot, so, good enough for me.

Not the same capacity but the EC9 is right at the $200 if your ruger distributor isn't fucking you ove.
Security 9 is similar but they stopped stocking it at bi mart so idk what the current fair price is

>they never had reliability issues
Most of those reliability issues came from people trying to shoot steel case ammo, or hollow points out of it, when 10 seconds of research would tell you not to do that. I've never had luck with hollow points or polymer tips in my CPX-2. I even tried polishing the feed ramp as the polymer tips seemed to catch on it, so I thought that would help. Nope. FMJ were fine, though, and will kill someone just as fast as hollow points. And a bonus is they're cheaper to shoot, and they'd be the same bullets I practiced with that I carried in it, so, I would know exactly how they behaved when shot. A lot of retards shoot cheap ammo at the range, and carry expensive gucci ammo for defense and never practice with the actual ammo they EDC because they're too expensive to shoot so they have no idea how that gucci bullet behaves out of their gun, nor how to adjust for it when it's a life or death situation.

>Not the same capacity but the EC9 is right at the $200 if your ruger distributor isn't fucking you ove.
I don't think it was released until a good 5 years after I bought my CPX-2 gen 2. Prices are similar, now, don't know about back then, and -3 capacity is a pretty big deal. The Ruger looks effectively like a CPX-2 clone, shitty colors and all.

dealer price on a security 9 from rsr for me is like $250; they sometimes run specials and knock $20-40 off if they have an overstock of a color or SKU

im not going to say you didnt have problems with that ammo, but i can just as anecdotally tell you that ive fed 300 rounds of cheap steel cases through a cpx2. yeah it was a generalization, but generally speaking, they were considered reliable. where would these failures to feed or eject fall in other gun brands?

Well yeah, it's the stripper model of the striker version of their kel tec PF9 clone, the LC9. They share common lineage.
If the EC9 wasn't available when I bought it I may have easily chosen it instead since bi mart stocked them as well.

>im not going to say you didnt have problems with that ammo
With standard Winchester 115 gr FMJ? Why would I have a problem shooting it? That's like the most basic of ammo, and 500 isn't a ridiculous amount.
>but i can just as anecdotally tell you that ive fed 300 rounds of cheap steel cases through a cpx2
Good for you, I guess. Anecdotes are all you're going to get on /k/, and 99% of the internet for that matter.
>yeah it was a generalization, but generally speaking, they were considered reliable.
What are you even trying to say?
>where would these failures to feed or eject fall in other gun brands?
Who knows. I'm surprised they got steel case Tula ammo and the Federal JHPs to even feed, let alone reliably over 100+ of them. Might pick up a box or two of the Federal 147 Grain HST JHP to see if they feed any better.

And I'll post the link for your pic, since you couldn't be bothered to.

Have you tried Federal 147 Grain HST JHP like the link from >>64156433 did? They seemed to have gotten it to feed somewhat reliably. I picked up some peel and stick grips for mine years ago on Amazon (IIRC) and they're still holding up great, and make shooting with sweaty hands much better. Do you have grips on yours?
