Bday present for my dad
Newfag here (well, to /k/ at least). I'm trying to get my dad a birthday present that entails basically having an outdoor range to himself (and anyone he wants to bring, of course) along with someone who bring a bunch of unusual/special/just cool guns and ammunition to shoot for a few hours. How does one go about setting that up? Do I call around and try to set up all the individual pieces? Do i ask gun shops if they're aware of anyone that does that? The best would be a service where some dude with his own sizable arsenal has an agreement with a range and he does this regularly -- I'm sure those guys must exist. But how the hell do I find them? I'm in the GNO area in Louisiana, for reference. Naturally, I'm expecting to travel a bit. Any suggestions?

Pic unrelated. Can't confirm, but I believe it's the high school grad photo of a guy before/after the siege of Sarajevo

For the most part they dont, for hire at least. These guys do exists, but they are buddies or friends of friends who have cool shit and like to share with their personal circle.
What you are looking for is a range that has lots of cool shit to rent. Depending on where you are, just call around and look around for tourist trap like ranges and youll find pretty much what your looking for. Or go to Vegas and drop $1k on about 20min worth of full auto shit

Like the anon above me said, folks don't just sit around waiting to be hired to share their cool shit. As a business a range will offer this as an experience and part of their business model vs. show up on Tuesday Tony is going to have all his cool stuff.

With that said, you mentioned youre in Louisiana. Drive to Texas, there are tons of "drive a tank, crush a car" ranch experiences out there im sure your dad would love. Similarly those places have tons of MGs and other fun shit to shoot.

Much appreciated feedback, thank you. I ended up going the tourist route using a place in N.O. (ew...) that has various packages with different guns. Not qn outdoor range, but it'll still be fun. Here's what we're shooting

HK-G36
HK-UMP
MAC10
SAVAGE-10
MP5
M4
AK-47

Allotting, say, $500 for ammo, it'll be about a grand. Did I do good?
