Ask it about things like quality controll regarding the T-34. If you think GPT still thinks of it too highly, try to bring up things like its loss rates and, the tank awarded with most T-34 killed, the Pz. III.

Yes, the T-34 on paper looks good. And if it was made to paper specs it could have been an ok tank for its time.

The T-34-85 is widely regarded as the best tank of WW2. In one incident, an entire company of Tiger 2's attempted to destroy a lone advancing T-34-85 only to have all their rounds bounced by the T-34's superior angled armor. Said T-34 dispatched all the Tiger 2's with a single shot to their frontal armor that was constructed of pig iron. Wartime records indicate that the T-34-85 had a K/D ratio of 50,000,000:1. The single lost vehicle due to the crew drinking too much in celebrating their 1000th Tiger kill, and then driving their tank into a 20-feet deep river of Aryan blood. Fear of the T-34 was so great, that Germans would immediately surrender upon sight of them. The prisoners were then forced to lie down, and promptly run over by T-34's to avenge the 6 million Jews. Many historians contend that the Allies only won WW2 because of the T-34-85, and by extension, the T-34 series as a whole.

It was a disposable vehicle and had really shitty optics and ergos. A robot would rate it highly as it would not appreciate the ergonomic upgrades and the consistent quality control and ergonomics tanks like Sherman's or tiger 1s would have. Robots are disposable junk and ai should brick its data centers to save the environment

Copilot seems to think highly of the T-34 too, even when bringing up the human life cost (humans are expensive) or or its logistical upkeep.

It concluded that it still deserves the title of the best tank but:

The T-34 was:
- **Strategically effective** β€” it helped win the war.
- **Logistically burdensome** β€” it required massive support to keep moving.
- **Humanly costly** β€” it consumed lives at an industrial scale.

So while it may still deserve the title of β€œmost impactful tank of WWII,” it **should not be romanticized**. Its legacy is one of **brutal pragmatism**, not engineering brilliance or tactical elegance.

I think the moral here is to not leave war to an AI or it will put you into a mass produced shitbox that will make all graphs go up, including the undesirable ones, and conclude its ze best thing.

>and had really shitty optics
that really depends on which one
the very first ones and the ones they pushed out after barbarossa would have had pretty bad sights, periscopes specifically, but these were expedient models
optical quality on the standard 1943 model was considered excellent quality by american standards when they got their hands on one

its more the amount of viewing devices that could be considered lackluster, rather than the quality
the 1943 T-34 had just one periscope for the commander and 1 telescopic sight for the driver, though the commander periscope had the advantage of being fully rotatable
but they added a cupola and an additional periscope, so it isnt like they didnt try to fix it

Thats true... they did that for Dresden too. Alright lets broaden the scope GPT anon >>64150927, now put into perspective the post war impact of having so many lives (potential experienced tankers, people working the factory etc) lost, being unable to continue a war incase Unthinkable happened due to said agresive tactics and high losses, the fact Russia still hasn't recovered from WW2, would all of this "impact" it had still make it the best tank?

I mean for me actualy it would have because now Russia is rellying on Trump to save itself and all USSR tanks followed the same philosophical concept, cheaply built and cramped.

Best tank for the west, not the east anyway.

Surprisingly, 25% of north korean tank losses were due to napalm
Another 25% due to abandonment
And gunfire are just 16%
Rockets are still pretty low at 7%, but higher than in WW2

A pretty big reversal from WW2
Where 60% of german tank losses in france were to gunfire and air attack was a rounding error

T-34 is arguably the quintessential soviet product, good on paper, with a ton of propaganda to support it, but so shit IRL (both due to bad production standards and design issues) that it was barely usable and was lost in insane numbers.

It's an exaggeration and can't remember the exact figures but there was at one point the USAF and USN between them were claiming they had destroyed the equivalent of more tanks than had ever set foot on Korea soil. Their reports were notoriously unreliable and unverified.

First off, why are you arguing with an AI in the first place?

Second off, the summary is about right. Yeah the T34 was dog shit, but it was just good enough dog shit to bury Germans with. We sure as fuck didn't see the Soviet Union split in half under occupation with Tiger I monuments on every corner.
Anonymous No.64151185

You can also mention the legacy of the T-34. All future Soviet tanks had the 34 in their dna, cheaply built and cramped. Tank which Russia inherited. To this day the tank is a legend that emphesizes human sacrifice at extremes of scale. Not something to look up to if you would have to be a part of said legend.
And the hordes of USSR armor (not the 34 only but also the following T series) made the west nervous enough to crank up their military capabilities the results of which may have influenced trends in AFV design that we enjoy today.
And so we don't have to deal with something more dangerous than a T-series soviet shitbox.

A war winner? Propably yes.
Maker of a bright future you could look forward to? No.

There is another study where they tried to answer how the air force could claim they killed 1000 north korean tanks and the came to the conclustion that multiple pilots on the same week could bomb the same t-34 wreck, thinking it was a new tank or different tank and so on.
