>Question of the Thread: What is the next gun you're going to buy and why?
I think after getting my BG 2.0 and whenever I pick up the GX4 micro compact I'll have literally every single niche filled I could fill except race gun. Whenever the Arex Rex 2 race gun they showed at shot show 2 years ago makes it state side I'll probably get it but other than that I'm full up lads. I got asked "how many guns do you have" and couldn't even remember.
>What is the next gun you're going to buy and why?
One of these, I'm hesitating which. Used plastic ones because they are clearly being discontinued and phased out and no one wants them for having thin slides anymore because we are in carry optic era. The revolver because I saw a video of some madman shooting 45 win mag from it, and I am easily influenced.
>>64156530
A literal why? list of guns, the only one worth a damn is the Redhawk and you want it in one of the worst calibers for it, get it in .44 mag or don’t get one at all.

.45 is God’s caliber and .429 is a weird cope
.45 ACP ensures that there are cheap range loads, commerical hot loads through .45 Super and .460 Roland, not sure how the cylinder is but if it’s only through moonclips then anything that fits on a moonclips will work

I have 45 ACP dies and 200gr bullets, which, I think, fit 45 Colt cases, so I'll likely just have to buy a box of cases after bending included moon clips. Ruger no longer makes pure 45 Colt version since they realized cutting cylinder for moonclips makes it compatible with 45 ACP.

I don't want to dissuade you from your purchases but I would advise sitting and waiting until the moment passes or you feel more strongly about a gun purchase.
Paying 1100+ after fees for a 45 ACP Redhawk then having the cylinders reamed to accept 45 win mag(and 460 Rowland) is gonna end up near 1500. Then whenever you want to shoot 45 win mag it's gonna cost over double what 44 magnum (1.50 nowadays holy shit) does for very similar recoil and performance. You'd have to shoot it a ton with 45 ACP to make up the price difference.
Or you could buy a used 44 magnum revolver for 600 and get the same occasional fun, and with the leftover money get a 38 special so that you have a cheap soft shooting revolver. Instead of trying to get a revolver that does everything. Unless you're a big handloader then discount most of what I just said.

I think I’m gonna get a USP 45. I’ve been playing a lot of stalker GAMMA and the USP Match is my go-to sidearm for the entire game, just upgrading it with full auto, suppressor, rail-mounted red dot etc.
I’m never going to fine/afford an actual USP Match, so I’m going to ‘clone’ one by buying a Jarvis Inc barrel and match weight. Purely for LARP

I've had one for over 10 years.
Its a neat little gun, it's well made, priced fairly, and has been totally reliable for me. It is entirely optimized around being small and makes zero concessions for anything else, so keep that in mind. It's awkward to hold, has terrible sights, etc etc.
That said, I've pocket carried mine probably 1500+ days in that time because it's so damn convenient. You can throw it in your pocket with your keys and it's less than a "serious" defensive pistol but it's more than nothing. I think it's probably acceptable for shooting a dog that's currently biting you or something like that. A true minimum viable pistol.
It's also a fun little novelty and always popular when I bring it out for friends to shoot.

They hold up well mechanically. You will not put super high rates in und counts through one in a human lifetime though so it's sort of irrelevant, but mine has just worked. Getting the cylinder and and out for reloading was annoying at first but it either broke in or I got gud or both and now it's super easy.
I agree with the other anon, don't bother with the 22mag versions, or imo the short versions. Just get 22lr. If it's a pure range toy, the ones with larger grips and longer barrel will be more satisfying to shoot, and the top break or swing out cylinder model will be faster to load, but they're much more expensive and then you're not far off a better 22 single action range toy anyway so idk. I think the niche for these is the model I have.
Probably time to cycle out my carry ammo again desu.

Those look pretty slick, I've got an EGW long hard sear that I stoned on a jig and it's pretty great.
In a series 70 the grip safety is nothing but a trigger block that I fail to activate 60% of the time because of my high grip so that bitch is getting chopped internally and belt sanded flush with the frame like the 45 with the rock island slide.
The 1911 thumb safety immobilizes the sear, trigger, and hammer anyway which is already more than 90% of carry guns on the market (not that I'd carry this)
Fitting the Wilson high-grip safety/beavertail was slow but that's because I didn't buy their jig.
Is a shrouded hammer really important for a carry revolver?

I look at it the other way, exposed hammer and single action aren't necessary for a revolver. With practice there's no real difference out to 25 yards.
If you find a shrouded hammer with the features you like, always go for it. The only reason mine aren't shrouded is because they weren't offered with certain features(barrel length, sights, etc)

Guns.com makes it nearly impossible to find out what Gunstore is selling the gun, unless you recognize the background. You aren’t allowed to sell it on other sites I’m pretty sure, it’s only to be sold through guns.com so it’s probably not available locally. It’s against the rules for you the buyer to contact the seller on guns.com, you either buy it or you don’t.

Friend Of the Industry. Most of the big manufactures will offer stores either discounts or rewards programs based on how many guns you sell. Sig, S&W, and Springfield all do it on a points system where selling guns earns you X amount of points and then at say 10 points you can get a free shield plus or a XD, at 15 you can get a Hellion or a M400, 20 a 320 X five legion or a 686 ect. HK lets you just pick two guns a year and give you 40% MSRP which in my case got me a USP9 with night sights and 3 mags for 770. They quick about it too I think i emailed them the order form on monday and had the gun in my hands by tuesday next week and that was considered "slow" by them since they were doing some inventory work when i sent the order in and it got delayed by 3 days.
Those discounts were literally the only reason i started working at that store

I've been torn for a while now on a hammer fired gun, I have a pair of Glocks already so this would be something to switch things up.
mostly torn been a 226 and an ltt Beretta. I consider stacattos as well but while I could take the hit on price, it's a tough value proposition when you factor in dots, holsters, spare mags, etc.
Any compelling reasons to go with one vs the others?
I doubt it would be something I carry much over the Glocks

Interesting.
The 1911 was first pistol and is the gun that ignited my passion for handguns. I got rid of it because they weren't terribly practical and went to Glocks for many years.
Just recently picked up a Langdon px4c and it is the best 9mm handgun I've ever had. I have a regular RMR on mine but the RMRHD looks so good on the px4. I probably won't get back into 1911s but I do want to get a full size 9mm for fun someday. I want an m9 but the px4 full size would be far more practical.
I wonder if shooting suppressed is fun enough to warrant the m9 over the px4 full size? I do plan on getting a tomcat for suppressed 32 shooting someday so I will eventually have a 9mm can. I don't necessarily want to invest in new mags but at the same time I would have to buy a bunch of 17 round mags for the px4 anyway...

it does help a bit
the hammer can be a little poke-y depending where and how you carry it
if you carry IWB under clothes the hammer channel is also gonna get lint and dust in it over time
shrouded hammer makes for a slightly pleasanter and more convenient carry experience
also, with a short-barrelled defensive DA revolver, its better to just shoot DA all the time, the hammer doesnt serve much purpose
btw the k6s is a great revolver and has a really nice trigger, but the 3" barrel version feels a little unbalanced (barrel-heavy). the 2" shrouded is perfect. just use short-barrel 357 ammo like pic rel and you're g2g

Here its a rule but you got the freedom. At least its a object that allows you to keep them in controlled humidity and dust free. I bought a higher than needed safty standart, so its harder to break and increased fire protection. The most expensiv upgrade is the electronic lock, as protection from checkups by police. You need to have the force over the keys at all moment, if you dont got them on you while they check you loose it (so a number saves tards like me). I wonder if ibshould make a long vertical shelf for the hamdguns directly on the door, that way i keep room for ammo
I'm a fucking retard and fell for the micro meme. Tried a p365 and a max 9 first time shooting about 6 months ago and bought the Ruger.
Today I went to the range (first time in 6 months because I hate the max 9) and shot it alongside a Walther PDP I rented and my God... I love that thing so much more.
The max 9 had a FTF for some reason within the first magazine. Not sure why. Plus it's so snappy, it fucks up my hand dramatically more than the walther did. The walther was comfortable as hell, more accurate, and looks fucking sweet. It actually feels like a gun whereas the max 9 feels like it's meant for small hands. Mine are medium and they fit, but it's a stretch.
I'm really considering trading in the shitty Poo-ger towards a brand new PDP there for $600.
Anyone here have a PDP? Any thoughts?

One thing to keep in mind is that PDP will be more noticeable if you decide to carry it with you, before that gun Walther used to make PPQ, which had slide taper at the top, making it feel a little slimmer, but still just on par with guns like Glock 19. After slide mount red dots became more popular, they made PDP where the slide came full thickness to the top, to allow mounting a wide plate and sight. Both of these guns are thicker than your Ruger, but PDP especially so. They do shoot pretty well, though, but I'd expect it from any modern gun at this point. I would attempt to detail strip the Ruger, clean it up, re-lube and try again. Maybe even give it a "break-in period" for being a Ruger.

I told him at the range but there was no overtravel to the point where it wasn't traveling enough actually. This means that the sear wasn't fully seated on the hammer. This can help cause that issue or cause it to not be able to fire at all (at least via trigger pull).
The reset thing is the spring weight, possibly too much resistance of trigger components like the actual trigger shoe. Or maybe needs a stiffer reset spring or to shim it to make it stiffer if they don't have adjustable tension.
It's pretty neat, has no recoil compared to a 1911 .45.

Oh yeah, I'm aware I don't know shit. I've been reading a lot on guns in general as of late and really hunkering down on dry firing. At first, I was more concerned about concealment rather than ergonomics or accuracy or any of that. I had heard good reviews of the max 9 and figured if I can conceal it easily too, then fuck it, I'll get it. It seemed accurate and fit my hands enough, although I knew it'd be snappy. After actually trying something larger rather than relying on fudds and gunbros on YupTube, I'm sold on getting a compact or full size now.
At this point in time, I don't carry and I don't have a need to carry; plus I can't justify spending an extra $150+ for the class and license (I live in IL). If I can have one handgun for all-around home defense, range time, and potentially carry in the future, that'd be perfect. I'm not worried about concealing something that large because I'm skinny and typically wear large shirts and/or hoodies throughout the year.
>>64161435
It's also not the first time I've had issues with it. I'm sure a few FTFs when I first started were because I was limp wristing, but after many many dry fire practices at home, deep cleansing, and watching videos and even learning in person, I still had some FTFs with the max 9.
>>64161478
The one I shot didn't say, but I think it was full size. The one I was looking at buying is the 4" compact. I've seen some on gunbroker that are around $400 used or LNIB. But after the shipping (at least $35) and the transfer ($45 - 50 here), I'm barely saving money, AND I don't get to see it or handle it in person. That's the only drawback to me keeping me from buying it online.

wasn't timing it, just was slowfiring to confirm zero
I have like a 95% success rate at zeroing new sights at home. The one time I had issues was because that PX4 barrel shot 4 inches to the right and did so in several different slides.
the return to zero on this thing is very good, I think I have a 16-18 pound recoil spring and a 22 pound hammer spring

"Hidden Bomar" style cut, where the irons are forward a little bit. It comes from cutting 1911 GI guns for adjustable sights reusing the existing dovetail pocket as a relief to hide the adjustable sight in the slide. Comes from Delta Force custom 1911s. The alleged benefit is that the adjustable sight is less susceptible from being bumped or damaged at the cost of 1/4 inch of sight radius.
I'm using a Springfield Operator TRP slide that has that cut. I'm using a Harrison Design fixed sight replacing the adjustable sight since it's cheaper.

NATO countries and their militaries are NOT operating in Ukraine. Westerners in the zone are primarily mercenaries and scientists.
The game has fucking spas 12, DAO-12s, and desert eagles. Western mercenaries would probably carry whatever the fuck they want. The USP being a high end “military” pistol it would likely show up.
I don’t see how the USP being in Stalker is outlandish if you know the lore. It’s more outlandish that there aren’t Glocks.

The most cost effective way is to buy used, score a compact for sub 500 ideally and then langdonize it to your price point. The hammer spring and trigger bar is like 70% or what the trigger job in a bag is but the px4 can have such a nice trigger with the full kit or the Beretta Competition trigger group + LTT trigger bar
Used Compact Carry’s are out there and most of them should come with the Beretta Competition trigger group (which is what LTT uses as a base for their trigger job), I say most because there was a period Beretta wasn’t making it and so LTT had to use stock trigger groups and so does the Compact Carry’s.
If you want things to be the way you want them from the factory, then perhaps buy a LTT. Beretta does not sell any optic cut PX4, I think Beretta officially distributes LTT guns now so they might “sell” a LTT.

That being said I just finished building out a Glock Gen 1 (repro) with a MOE Gen 3 slide and some other bits and bobs to make it my modern carry piece for running out at the flat range and in the wilderness under NODs with a P2 so for now she gets to retire to my case until I get the hankering for .45 ACP again.

nearly everything, the barrels are usually different since most 2011 frames are cut for wilson nowlin or para ramps, since most 2011s are 9mm these days. However JEM makes a 2011 frame that has a standard barrel ramp, I used a Para cut ramp and a Fusion ""Match"" Barrel that just happened to drop in to my Springfield Operator TRP slide (I got from here
https://www.uscollectorsordnance.com/product-category/1911-parts/1911-slides/ )
Getting the slide onto the frame was the hardest part since the slide was oversized in the dimension between the slide rails and the frame, so I had to file ALOT of the bottom of the slide to get it to get come on. I'm like 80 hours into this build or so.
I'm maybe 1500 or so in for parts

Anon probably meant intended purpose, guns optimized for target shooting tend to be large and heavy, which makes them very nice to shoot, including if you have to defend your home, but carrying one of those outside is difficult. On another hand, guns made to be easy to hide on your belt are small, but will be more difficult to shoot.
>It is difficult for me to pull the trigger on the few handguns I've tried
What were those guns? Double action revolvers often have very heavy trigger pull.

Around 300-400 bucks for a frame is standard.
Cheely’s E2 grip module with pinned grip safety is USPSA legal but if you took your existing grip module and pinned the grip safety it wouldn’t be legal. So lots of guys run the E2 grips since they can’t depress grip safeties for some reason.

you can just report it and then make a new thread instead, people will understand. You don't have to use the first thread if it's a troll thread.

Forgot to post. Canik isnt extracting the round. Brand new and fired only 4 rounds. Did that 4 times in a row. Not sure if limp wrist or recoil spring. But I saw something about an extractor spring fix.

Sometimes blued slides would end up plum or brown. Can't tell if that's the case here

Explain. The normal beretta 92 family pistols have barrels that reciprocate without tilting but the 80x is just a fixed barrel simple blowback.
