When the Ukraine war is over, who will be their General Lee or General Jackson?

I feel bad for southerners. One day their ancestors crawled out of the swamp and were mistook for human, now the have to work and pay taxes.

russia will have its hoods and braggs, but for ukraine i doubt any name will resurface. modern warfare doesn't glorify the feats of commanders like it used to back in the day, simply because there's no military aristocracy left today, no big names to associate victories or defeats with. the only exceptions come from countries that still retain this old worldview, like russia or many turd worlder nations more concerned about the cult of personality than actual results.

>Lee

Syrskyi (competent but somewhat old-fashioned)

>Jackson

Zaluzhny (highly independent and frequently buts heads with higher ups, has also pushed for Ukraine to pursue a state of total war)

Crawl back to the frozen shitholes you and the Russians call home and stay there.

Except Hood was actually a good division commander until he was wounded at Gettysburg and Chickamunga, after which point he was promoted beyond his abilities while also suffering serious physical decline. Bragg was similarly a decent organizer and strategist who was brought down by his personal flaws.

The last Russian generals who seemed to have had even a modicum of the potential of Hood and Bragg were Soviet-inherited ones like Rokhlin who were purged (usually lethally) by the turn of the century.

Most probably they will not build a cult of any individual but rather an idealized defender of the homeland. And probably not a woman this time either.
