I'm inclined to agree with this but the only problem that would pop up in my head is that if you were to use a gun in a "small problem" you are more likely than not going to jail, given we don't have Stand Your Ground laws like the US of A. I'm European and I own a couple of 9mm pistols (with a small stock of good defensive ammo) just because I'd rather have one than not if something did happen. Plus they're fun to fuck around with at the range. I would never bother buying a rifle here though, that's a complete LARP. I think the stuff that came with gun ownership, like learning about medical stuff (Stop The Bleed / TCCC type classes I took because my gun club offered them), has been way more useful than the guns themselves.

In hungary they changed this in 2010ish. Nowadays basically you can do anything, as long as it's a shady enough scenario.
