When did guns become another keeping up with the Jones for faggots? It feels like 10 years ago you could say you carry a .22 wmr snub and people would call you a fag and thats that, now they type out 5 paragraphs telling you its obsolete and objectively wrong and you need this and this and that because this video shows its notasgood as whatever the person who gets as revenue and has sponshorships told them was better and did a gay little test on

Just ignore what faggots have to say.
I don't see why you need to bitch about it, they're everywhere, they come for every hobby eventually. They can't reach into your wallet and make you buy shit you don't need to appease them.

People have always argued about my brand vs. your brand. In the 19th century rich Euros were debating who made the finest shotgun for live pigeon shoots, or who had the most accurate rifle. You can go read 19th century issues of "The Field" and it reads just like boomers on Arfcom, only they're arguing about those kind of guns instead of ARs and Sigs.

I think it's gotten a bit worse recently for two reasons:
1) A lot of people learned about guns via video games, and in games there IS a meta. People who grew up in this world are essentially trained to look for a meta even if there isn't one.
2) Insecurity.

Your precious passive aiming? I invented that to sell more night vision and trinkets. Team guys laugh at the concept. DJ never even dropped anyone with a red dot, it was all under nods and beams. I make $600 every time kody needs a new chunk of anodized aluminum,

Is that a problem with guns? Or is it just 4chan wanting to get in pissing matches about every little thing? Go to any other board and you'll probably get people saying the same dumb shit about MtG or anime girls or whatever the fuck.

It's because firearm technology has improved exponentially in 30 years so some people are carrying guns that are objectively orders of magnitude less effective than other guns of the same size and weight and often the same price. S&W bodyguard 2.0 weighs 13 ounces loaded with 10 rounds of 380 and utterly blows any 38 or 22wmr snub revolver out of the water to the point where no amount of mental gymnastics could possibly justify the latter.

2015 had people swearing on their mother's grave anything smaller than 10mm was inadequate. You'd have been mocked way more than today

I think it's human nature. Anything that people get enthusiastic and granular about turns into a dick measuring contest with lots of side-eye and passive judgement. I remember reading memoirs of Charles A. Siringo, who was an actual cowboy and detective during the wild west days and he would ramble about the best horses and observations about good or poor choices/condition of horses other people were riding or using as draft animals. He'd get into arguments about it with people as well. It felt very familiar to any debate on /k/ or /o/.

The upside is that by en large, participation in this is voluntary. You can ignore everyone and do your own thing. Shoot and carry whatever you want.
The only thing is that sometimes somebody is genuinely doing something wrong, have their gun set up in an unsafe or sub-optimal state, or is approaching a problem from the wrong direction. They might not be asking for advice, but they genuinely might need it. Sometimes, that person could be you.
