Do you want to know why this obvious AI slop gets 100k+ views?
It's ultimately because the 22LR user desperately wants their pet chambering to be anything but obsolete. Take, for example, the most recent "technological advancement" in 22LR: Federal's "Punch", which is just a CCI stinger loaded with an even lighter bullet to get an extra 50fps (as if it fucking matters) and nickel plated to make it look different than all the other 22LR despite having the exact same limitations that are a result of fundamentally unfixable outdated technology.
The 22LR user desperately wants their obsolete technology to be modernized, but it simply isn't possible. This isn't the same problem that, for example, 45 Colt had, where it was originally designed for black powder, yet now eclipses 44 Magnum. No, the problem with rimfire is inherent, fundamental, and unfixable. You can't put in a longer or heavier bullet to make use of modern powders because the slow twist is necessary to not shred the soft lead bullets for which the cartridge was designed. The actual most technologically advanced advancement in 22LR, the Aguila SSS 60 grain load, is not even viable most of the time, again because of the twist rate and that it uses a nonstandard case length. And don't get me started on the problem of the heeled bullet.
Winchester gave you a chance in 1903 to fix much of the problem when they created the .22 Winchester Automatic, and your great-great grandfather rejected it.
FN again gave you the chance in modern times when they created the 5.7x28, which solves ALL of the technological problems of 22LR, and you rejected it.
Simply put, 22LR alone (and the cope that it continues to bring two centuries later) vindicates the ancient and pure Gnostic teaching that Hylics exist, and that unfortunately, they are the majority.

.22LR is psyop created by indigo agent yamudda to put a curse on youse all so when the one world government enacts what your tabloids call RX 84. FEMA will seize control of all the real bullets and leave you with .22lr.

How is a cartridge that is 5x cheaper than the second cheapest firearm cartridge "obsolete"? What is the other 6cpr cartridge that I should be using instead?

.22 is a glorified BB gun. it has its uses, but also people who trick out their 10/22's to have 1/4 the functionality of a AR are imbeciles

I understand. The temptation of 22LR is intense and few can withstand it. But you must resist, if not for yourself, then for your children. Societies do not reach enlightenment and greatness overnight, but they require the constant selfless sacrifice of many men over many, many years.

This isn't about money, it's about truth and for those who come after us. We were born into the hell of 22LR, but that does not mean we must participate in it or propagate it.
Think of all the technological advancements that were expensive at first, yet now make more sense. If we just say "I will use thing that is popular because it's cheap and cheap because it's popular", then we are forever stagnant as a society.

The most powerful 22 air rifle you can buy which is recommended for killing raccoons from 50 yards doesn't have half as much energy as a 22LR pocket pistol with a 2.5" barrel and standard pressure ammunition. 22LR is absolutely fatal against any vital organs in the human body and was the traditional cattle slaughtering cartridge for almost a century.

Of course it's about money. You cannot reuse ammunition the way you can reuse arrows fired from a bow. CPR is a critical dimension of firearm cartridge utility and always will be.

You're right, but we live in an industrial society, not an apocalyptic one. It is safe to say there is enough (non 22LR) small arms ammunition and reloading components (not valid for 22LR) to last 10,000 years, should production entirely cease, at which point consumption would slow down to match it.
22LR is inherently wasteful as the case (the most expensive part of any cartridge) will inevitably be wasted. Thus the true cost of 22LR is hidden. You paid less up front, but you end up not actually saving money.

Handloaded 5.7x28 comes as close as possible, with the only real waste being the primer (3.5 cents, less expensive than a 22LR round).

You either don't know basic math or don't know anything about handloading because you cannot handload any centerfire for anywhere remotely near the cost of rimfire ammo, not even 9mm which has the cheapest bullets you can buy. Not to mention that 5.7 is widely regarded as being practically impossible to handload.

The case of 22lr is just as wasteful as the primer cup of a center fire case.
Manufacturing a rimfire case is incredibly efficient, it's just a single thickness sheet of metal shaped into a closed cylinder with a rim.

.22lr made sense when it was cheap, but then again you'd get more out of training with an airsoft gun so you can actually do movements and shoot your friends. You're not getting much out of a .22 except fun and maybe like one accuracy exercise shooting targets without recoil to learn to not anticipate or fear it. Past that use as an initial noob training aid, it's not of much use. Not cheap enough to be fun anymore, I stopped buying it when I stopped seeing 50 round boxes for $1.25
Anything you can kill with a .22 you can catch with snares and traps which weigh less to carry. Indeed 5.7 would be everything .22 is and more since it's actually effective against humans and larger game in a pinch, yet still weighs very little.

.22lr will never be obsolete as long as it remains being FUN to shoot.
once you own more than a couple of guns and have owned them for more than a few months, you'll realize .22lr is peak fun.

Unfortunately it's just a hint too long to make a good pocket pistol. It should be a x18 or x19 case length and higher pressure. .22 Pokey was another round grappling at greatness which didn't quite succeed.

Is this the faggiest OP to ever fag up a faggy OP?
Hating on the fucking 22 long rifle now? Is this stupid faggot serious? What sort of autistic, minmaxing cockgobbler do you have to be to hate on .22LR and plinking with a 10/22 or any other little plinker? It's fucking AMERICA to plink 22s as a kid!
I've been on /k/ since 2005, twenty fucking years now, off and on admittedly, but I've never seen an OP so absolutely atrocious as this faggot here.
Motherfucker needs a permanent ban on /k/ at the device level. Absolutely horrible post.

OP is objectively a fag, but I do wonder how difficult it would be to create a near identical round to .22LR but in jacketed and in center fire. Actual usability being secondary to reliability, cost, and fun as a plinker, but I imagine with modern propellants it could find some niche as a varmint rifle, and then pay CMMG to make a variant of their conversion kit to use this new round (should require very little in the way of design change) to get itβs feet off the ground.

.17hmr exists because small rifle primers cost more than .22lr but people need to shoot grouse or whatever beyond 80 yards. No need to invent a 4th new wheel.

Motherfucker this is humanity we're talking about.
Somebody will always "invent" the 4th new 5th wheel and there's nothing you could've done to prevent the wasted time, because their mentality from the start was "I can do the SAME THING with the SAME RESULTS, but slightly statistically better!"
You can't convince someone who's gone to that mentality to stop what they're doing. Same reason 40 thousand crypto coins exist.
