>.38 s&w
Whats the point? Seems like 20 years later when .38 special came out it wouldnt have a place anymore really, but somehow its kept kicking for more than another century somehow

He's talking about it being used in WW2.

Webleys are trash that can't handle pressure reliably on steam powered metallurgy. It was also a round they already had experience with so you got sorted of a 30-06 situation but for revolvers which really didn't matter anyway.

Some of it would have been inertia, but I do agree that it feels weird that it stuck around for such a long time afterwards, when .38 Special really is just way better.

Probably because the post-processing software of the camera failed at recognize the perspective of the wall vs her. Smartphone cameras are so bad that all the noise, lens distortion, perspective distortion, bad linearity must be corrected by software, picrel.
She has other pics from different angle and the background looks ok.

It's cheap, it hits hard, there are dozens of loads & dozens of guns for it (if not hundreds), it's compatible with .357, wheelguns are not obsolete, tube-fed carbines and semi-autos maximize its potential, handloaders can minmax the fuck out of it for their particular use case and exact weapon. There is no other comparable round, except .357. You've already lost. Give up while you're still only behind.

My biggest complaint is that .38/.357 is so popular that it pushed out the only superior round, .41.

Think of it like .380 before the ultra compact revolution made them good. Between 1940 and like 2015 almost every .380 was a direct blowback ring of fire ghettoblaster. First Spanish imports then you have the GCA that brought you lorcin and similar companies, evolving into your kel tec and Taurus, then bill Ruger screeches down in hell as his company does the incredibly based thing of making a .380 that isn't a piece of shit and it's suddenly off to the races for real gun companies to make pocket pistols.

.38special ironically gets down loaded to .38s&w levels for lighter recoil and women in a couple of commercially available defensive loads.

History to complete the .380 parallel, .38s&w is a cartridge from the 1870's that survived into the 1960's. Wikipedia might have you believe .38s&w is some underpowered full frame revolver cartridge but for every model 10 6" 6 shot revolver made by Smith and Wesson there was a thousand forehand arms, iver johnsson, etc. 5 shot pocket pistols actually sold in the caliber. It was the .380 of the 1900s like .380 is the .380 of the 2000s
