Are hollow points kind of stupid?
Swiss gun laws are much more passive than american gun laws, but the swiss dont allow hollowpoints bc to save a persons life whose been shot by hollows the surgeon has to basically mutilate the victim to retrieve all the individual pieces of the bullet. If i was in the background behind an active shooter/terrorist, i would rather have a hero shoot at the terrorist with round nose ammo and accept the risk it penetrates the terrorist and hits me rather than risk the hero missing the terrorist and hitting me by accident with his faggot hollowpoint. Swiss gun laws overall are a million times better than american gun laws, and i would much rather adopt swiss gun laws in america even if that means banning hollowpoint.

This is all bullshit conjecture and posturing

I don't give a fuck about the life of a person I was forced to shoot to defend my own, you have something approaching a point about innocent bystanders but that's why you train and impart discernment before shooting. It's also why you aim for center mass. Using a round-nose just endangers more people for any skilled, trained shooter.

Fuck Switzerland too

Wut? Rifle rounds *tend* to fragment like a bitch, especially at closer ranges, regardless of construction. Handgun rounds *typically* do not, regardless of construction. Your reasoning for the law is erroneous but you're probably wrong about the reason behind its initial passing anyway.

Swiss gun law seems to be driven by military requirements. Not sure if Swiss are signatories of thr Hague Convention baning dum-dums but many non signatories voluntarily comply.

Remember this when anti-gunners say "No military h/w in civilian hands". Civilian stuff can be deadlier. Just ask the WWI Germans about trench brooms.

Plain HP could be outdated. Every jihadi, chink, and LA nigger has plates. I mean it's no fun day taking one in the plates but still.
HP is outplayed by 3 part wonder-bullets that are actually cool. But it still walks down effect on fatties, still don't penetrate, still don't fly the same, and still cause you to change zero from properly designed 2 part FMJ.

Explain what I said that was wrong? High velocity rifle rounds at close ranges, let's say inside 100 yards, have a tendency to fragment. This is true for many bottlenecked rifle cartridges on soft targets. Common pistol calibers like 9mm, .40, .38, .45, .357 are much more likely to remain intact even if they're an expanding projectile. Most expanding projectiles are intended to stay intact specifically for better penetration. There's obviously exceptions to this hence why I specifically used language like "tend to" and "typically" but those are exceptions and not the rule. When fall rolls around, go shoot a few does with 9mm and run a detector probe into the wound cavity. Then do the same thing with a .243 and get back to me with your results. I'm interested in your findings. I've personally removed jacket materiel from carcasses on multiple occasions when using rifle cartridges but never once had the same result when using my model 66 or Contender in .357. And if you're arguing swiss vs. US gun laws, you're just being a contrarian. There's zero federally mandated permitting, waiting period, license etc. to purchase a firearm. NFA is it's own basket of BS but at least it's not every single item like in chocolate faggot land.

Swiss gun laws in the US would make zero goddamn sense. Americans tangibly and reliably benefit from:
-private sales
-conceal carrying in dangerous area
-castle doctrine (i.e. no duty to retreat in your own home)
Americans by and large find suppressors and full auto to be fun toys, and full autos are de facto legal these days anyhow thanks to FRTs.
Switzerland has none of the important and practical things, and while suppressors arent any more restricted than other gun parts there, theyre still nearly as restricted as supressors in america, and much more restricted than most american guns. So what gun owners would benefit from swiss laws? Nobody except people who love public ranges and do nothing else with their guns. I totally get euros wanting to be proud of their stuff and i get america is the place to compare yourself to, but goddamn gun laws is the most obviously losing battle unless you hate guns.

>basically mutilate the victim to retrieve all the individual pieces of the bullet.

I call bullshit. The Swiss aren't this dumb. The reason they have to open up people to get HPs out is due to the bullet expanding. Try and imagine - ok, never mind. Don't bother. You are obviously a complete moron.

The swiss are such sticklers for Hague when they made their military's version of 5.56, GP90 they put deliberate effort into making it fragment and yaw as little as possible. To avoid violating the spirit of the convention when literally no one else cares.
And being switzerland it will only be used on living targets when they finally dig too deep and demons are invading their fortress

The history of the 1897 in WW1 is almost entirely fuddlore. Only a handful were actually sent to frontline units, those got very mixed reviews from troops and never had suitable ammunition issued. The German diplomatic protest over them was little more than a passing objection citing bans on dum-dum'd ammo and mostly just trying to score a point in the PR department.
