if you push on the front of most handguns it will move the slide back just far enough to prevent the gun from firing. the little meat tenderizing looking part sits in front of the slide and protects it.

best gen is 3 if you're going to mod it and 5 if you're going to put an optic and call it a day
4 is good but it's kinda pointless. 1 & 2 have no rail meaning occasionally spotty holster compatibility if that matters.

to follow up, gen 5 is actually a significant upgrade beneath the surface. it's not just finger grooves, front serrations and ambi slide lock.

Faggots certainly are quick to say that Glock doesn't provide anything unique but I don't see PDPs and M2.0's having flaired magwells, overinsertion tabs, polygonal rifling, dual recoil springs, etc. That's not to say that those two guns aren't great in their own right, they also do things Glock does not.

I kept my Gen 3s when I got my first Gen 4s but I've now replaced all my Gen 4s with 5s. Gen 5 is perfect.

3. I bought mine right before Gen 4 came out. I've shot pretty much all iterations other than like the G45 and whatever frame/slide size swap bs they are selling.

I did shoot a Gen 2 17 once and that was cool.

But Gen 3 has the best aftermarket in general. Plus it's allowed in commiefornia, hence the still existing aftermarket.

Gen 1 is the best looking due to the grip texture and no rails and gen 3 is the best functioning with the biggest aftermarket so the best Glock is the gen 1 remakes they did with Gen 3 parts. Getting to larp as Gordon Freeman and having a gun cheaper than a regular Gen 5 is cool too.

Gen 3 Glocks are neat and all but they have their problems with ejection. Gen 5 is basically perfect, no pun intended. Gen 5 is aesthetically superb and functionally perfect and gen 2 is the next runner up as far as aesthetics go imo, then gen 1
