Another point I'd like to make is that unlike in Ukraine or Russia conscripts aren't paid a salary. You literally get nothing for fighting, nada. You can't even afford basic necessities with the cigarette money they give you, it's incredibly cucked

One of the biggest reasons for people leaving reserve is NATO, and to be contrarian. Granted, even in wartime situation those people can and probably will be (at least partly) used for civil jobs in as needed basis. You don't get just opt out completely, you're just transferred to civilian service.
