Soulless AR-15 aesthetics and they're degrading from 7.62 to 5.56
Anonymous No.64174136
at this point I wish niggas would just swap out the shitty ar paddle with the new paddle. like I already mocked up a unit and it's pretty fucking easy to do. there's only three patents on it and two of them are small companies.

Ensio Firearms' KAR-21 Käräjämies would have been the only truly dual-caliber rifle system on the market, with the ability to switch between 7.62 and 5.56 calibers. The weapon is also domestically made, despite which the Finnish Defence Forces excluded it from the competition.

It's a piston AR... or a DI AR apparently (no idea how much commonality those two have). And it has all the features that all modern rifles have. Wow. Is it in any way better than a 416 or a dumb old M4? If so, they haven't provided arguments for it.

An AR is a blank canvas that countries modify or add features to on an al a carte basis. It's a Lego gun. It's the iphone of guns. It's boring as fuck. But it must work

Most AR derivates are actually just ARs that at best have a piston shoved in. From the looks of it, I think this SAKO uses a buffer tube like the 416. Poor idea, prevents folding stocks. SIG actually innovated with the MCX and put the recoil spring in the upper. They also innovated in providing an extra side charging handle, to accustom americans to it while still retaining the AR15-style rear charging handle.

SIG didn't innovate shit, the MCX is just a milled aluminum version of the AR-180 with AR-15 features stapled on.

That's exactly what muttmurrica needed. A rifle that looks like their beloved AR15 while actually being a superior AR18.

I get it since ARs are almost perfect and Multicam pretty much works great in fall and spring it still sucks seeing the diversity of NATO become one big slop.

Any new rifle should just be made a bullpup. 5.56 is gay, should be battle rifle caliber. No one cares about the 10,0000th ARshitteen being made.

You need a modern logistics train to keep ARs running long-term, there are parts you know have to be replaced.
You don't have to do that with a Mauser 98 or metaphorical stand in for a 98

DI is high-speed low-drag but doesn't hold up without regular cleaning and a supply of replacement parts.
Not an AK guy, but you don't see them carrying a spare piston or bolt in their pack
Anonymous No.64175622 >>64175775
Surprised to see they went with DI as I thought they'd be running a piston for the reliability meme. I wonder if they're gonna build a 7.62*39 variant to shoot their massive ammo reserves or if they'll just shoot them through the RKs for the next decades to come untill they run out

Total Murican cultural victory, what else is there to say
Also seems like they're just hopping on the piston AR train way too late but who cares

What would you even want out of an AUG 2? Like adding modern features like an extruded aluminium receiver and poly trigger group with changeable pistol grip, is basically all the desert tech guns and the M17S.
Anonymous No.64175664 >>64179215
>>64174910
This is simply a myth

The piston AR is almost always just a result of overbuilding by committee, there's no actual tangible real world scenario where you're gonna wish you had a piston in your DI gun

I hope you're trying to be funny because it wasn't ready for service. The .223 model couldn't handle hot ammo and the 7.62 model is a princess that will not cycle with NATO surplus

The calibre for the FDF is still up in the air but I doubt it will be anything other than 5.56 or 7.62 NATO. Still, it's military procurement so anything can happen

What nonsense is this? AKs are rated for 10k rounds from the factory and are usually discarded once the barrel wears out, which happens quickly with the shitty corrosive steel jaceted ammo ak users use. an AR bolt will last just as long, especially with proper lubrication and cleaning and maybe replacing the gas rings.

just off yourself and follow the fate of your obsolete platform.
