Honestly I've thought through the whole modular meme before and hell even swapping uppers on a single lower is still a pain in the ass if you're changing calibers or swapping between differently gassed uppers. Unless you're too poor to spend the extra $200-300 for a lower or live in a shithole that limits your firearms, it's simply not worth it.
Let's take your example here

Just for fun pretend you dont care about any of that. You can still achieve this all with a standard lower, but would need to compromise on magazine choice. So regardless you still get your various calibers that this lower proposes to solve.
I rather just have three complete firearms for the extra cost of $1k or so than play musical buffers and worry about damaging my trigger personally

That would make sense if lowers weren’t inexpensive compared to the uppers. Unlike your poorly thought out “solution” to a non existent problem that just adds extra complexity and failure points, if a lower fails you could just get an entirely new one and unlike with your abysmally retarded solution, you wouldn’t have to worry about the rest of the lower failing too like that one part you replaced did.
There’s zero need for one, it doesn’t actually solve anything, and all it does is add more needless complexity

I was thinking more about military logistics and eliminating the need for different lowers/creating a universal one. Wouldn't sharing a lower between the M110 SASS and M4/M27 save alot of money in the long run? You could also take swe/finnish AK24 as an example. With something more modular Finland would still have a use for their stocks of 7.62x39 and Sweden could possibly switch from the G3 for something like the M110. Penny pinching matters alot more in those cases.

I would have loved to see the AR upper/lower be reworked into a complete upper from butt to muzzle and a trigger pack a la HK. There's no need to have multiple magazine wells when your upper is going to stay one caliber anyways.
The AR-15 has impressive customization but having the buffer tower be a part of the lower is the number one thing getting in the way of true creativity.
Imagine the same trigger pack being compatible with everything from an MP5 sized subgun to a fucking Kord-style belt fed shoulder fired .50 bmg.
Of course faggots will make the upper the serialized receiver but a man can fucking dream.

Because mostly, with the exception of .22 drop in kits and mags, the main gate preventing people from easily swapping calibers is the upper. If you've already spent a couple hundred building an upper with a 9mm bolt and barrel, why not pay an extra hundred for a lower that takes glock mags? Its a bit of convenience that really only comes in handy for people who only want one lower but will handily pay for multiple uppers. Your average person will usually just buy a different gun for each caliber.

Because it turns out ar15/m16 lowers are designed to be mass produced to equip an army. Its easier and significantly chaper to machine down a block of aluminum vs 3 blocks and pin it all together.

Because for most people and even militaries, you're better off just buying a brand new gun if you need to fill a different niche.
This kind of thing might be a desirable feature for a clean sheet future design. However, the AR is already a mature platform that functions exactly how users want it, they don't need something that will balloon costs while adding marginal to nonexistent utility for the majority of buyers.

Yeah this is a pretty good idea, however, the ATF would have probably ruled that the "upper" was the receiver if they went this direction, specifically because the magwell would be permanently attached to the pressure bearing components.
