Rwanda
Are these guys actually a competent military or are they just taking advantage of their neighbors weakness? They seem to basically just be able to walk into the eastern DRC at will and steal their minerals to sell for shekels.

You mean the deployment in Mozambique? They dont really interact with the local ISIS affiliate in the congo. Apparently during the recent M23 offensive they tried to broker a truce with the ADF but theyre isis so they told them to fuck off

The whole conflict in Mozambique is so incredibly retarded and completely the fault of the government yet I see so many Africans claim its some conspiracy to steal their resources by the west(?). The government found gas in this poor far-flung province and then moved the locals off their land & banned them from fishing so they could sell the rights for more money to embezzle and thought this would somehow not cause massive backlash. Now the gas project is halted for the forseeable future and they have a smoldering insurgency and everybody remains poor. Like damn nigga why not just employ the locals and get everybody in on the gravy train? Everybody lost here.

Yes. Following the Civil war's end (after the Hutus got their shit pushed in and put back in their place by the RPF), they received a relatively large amount of money for development from the west. It didn't turn them into some glorious first world country, but did leave them with a lot of spare cash to spend on their army, which left them as one of the most professional forces in Africa. Having a force that actually survives contact with the enemy instead of breaking down is a major advantage in Africa.

Rwanda is the ONLY competent country in the region. Paul Kagame has spent the past 30 years painstakingly building the Rwandan army and Rwanda's road system to give Rwanda the ability to project power across the whole region. The Rwandan military has been trained by western powers and is well equipped compared to its neighbors. They are active across central Africa providing experienced peace keeping forces and collect money from western companies to protect their resource investments. The Mozambique deployment is only to protect French oil/gas operations. Rwanda has been extremely successful in this venture. Its not a broad war against ISIS. Rwanda is still poor but is now in the position where it rents out its army to the weaker countries that surround it. Any regional country that challenges Rwanda soon has all their border regions occupied and minerals quietly being trucked away with no way to stop it.

So Kenya no longer exists?
Anonymous No.64177625 [Report]
A big reason why Rwanda is so successful despite being poor and small is because Paul Kagame is a stable relatively un-corrupt leader. Instead of embezzling all of Rwanda's money, major investments into infrastructure, the medical system, and courting foreign investment boost the economy and provide internal stability as well as citizens who won't rebel when the army is away. Rwanda has one of the best highway systems in Africa. Paved, maintained roads connect every city and allow the army to mobilize and respond to threats within hours while countries like the Congo have to march their army across an entire jungle through flooded dirt roads that are unusable during the rainy season. Rwanda has one of the best medical systems in the region. Because of this Rwanda has a large pool of healthy, vaccinated men to fill out its army and the soldiers know that if they are injured, there is a hospital waiting for them at home. A big issue with African armies is that the government is usually not able to help injured soldiers so heir men flee at the first sign of danger.

Kenya is corrupt as shit and a joke. Their leader had to run to the UN after Uganda threatened to dismantle the Kenyan government when the two leaders go into a fight on twitter last year.

The people in these ISIS videos are Swahili Afro-Arabs. They have a long history of enslaving both the Hutu and the Tutsi.
