the Sterlings can be found for around $500 less than a typical Costa Mesa.

a Sterling should be able to be had for $1,200 or less. A decade ago you could still get Sterlings for under $1,000 but since that time, people have become more aware via internet of the AR-18 and ArmaLite lineage which has driven up values.
a Costa Mesa ought to be obtainable for around $1,500 or less.
Seek online auctions. Going in to a pawn shop or local gun stores with a pricetag slapped on for these rare rifles won't get anywhere, and gun shows are the worst place to purchase vintage mil semiauto cold war / WWII rifles, vastly overpriced
