We already have AI assisted tracking, computer assisted air defense, microwave guns, spoofing and jamming tech.
It just needs to be adapted.

It is technologically possible, but the cost effectiveness of countering drones makes it irrelevant. Portable jamming devices range from 3k to 5k$, and high-end automated systems can cost well over a million dollars. All that to inevitably get saturated by 50$ quadcopters from Aliexpress.

I think the rule is the solution has to be something the third world is also capable of or else it 'won't work' or would be too expensive to use in a 'real war' or some other typical bit of cope. Expect 12-gauge shotguns or cope barns to come up as suggestions.
Or in the case of the terminally drone brained, the only possible counter to a Chinese quadcopter has to be a different sort of Chinese quadcopter. Warning signs of terminal drone brain include random use of the term "AI", or god help us, any mention of "raspberry pi" which would indicate a comorbidity of fridge-temperature IQ syndrome.

It doesn't even require that, you just need to overwhelm the sats using ground stations, the ground stations can still recieve, naturally, but the sats can't.

This is going to sound genuinely horrifically autistic. But Planetside 2 might be the basis of the future of warfare in a couple ways.

>All supply and behind line vehicles must be armed with at least some AA or countermeasures.
>No proper thunder runs, no proper air support, no proper support support on a mass scale. Only in very small very situational ways.
>Small, non-communicating units (because of electromagnetic tracking) of variable size operating with little oversite.
>Every random place that's important for warfare is protected by a range of defenses to the point of a random far away from the front line refinery having an AA tower.

Maybe not all true or I'm jumping the gun. But I can see the local defenses model becoming more popular at the least. Thanks drones.

The whole point of jammers is preventing saturation attacks by cheap drones; by forcing attacks to use high quality drones with expensive professional radios or heavy fiber optic reels cutting into payload/maneuverability.

Either you give up ( as both Ukrainians and Russians do about 60% of the time on the front) or you use a smaller number of drones, which makes it easy for kinetic defenses to counter.
Anonymous No.64181221

Not difficult per se. But quite expensive and time consuming, not to mention resource intensive. Golems aren't worth such resources for an innovation that will eventually pass into the hands of enemies and even out the playing field. That or the system is so deprived of talent that they can't innovate on demand...

Unfortunately, they're a bit bulky at the moment. The Stryker-based lasers, for example, take up the entire space normally used for the troop compartment. Even if M1A3 goes to electric drive, that's too much volume to simply mount one on the turret roof; it really needs a dedicated vehicle with current tech, which makes it better-suited to SHORAD than point-defense. The best tank PD option right now is probably M230 with airburst rounds, assuming they can develop drone-detecting sensors capable of finding and tracking nearby drones... a mix of ShotSpotter and DAS technologies, maybe?

This doesn't work in Ukraine; where jammers cockblock drones for over 60% of the total battlefield timeline, typically in 2-3 week long blocks.

It's as simple as leaving jammers off and turning them on when you see an attack. Of course, you can't do wave attacks with cheap ones in the first place because one of the key drawbacks is how they jam each other, resulting in a cap of no more than 5-6 FPVs in a battlefield area.
