Just bought my first firearm here in MA after getting my LTC after like 6 months, got an m9 Beretta since glocks aren't as easy to come by. I was wondering /k/ thinks carrying a round in the chamber when I concealed carry is a good idea. I haven't shot it yet so I'm kinda nervous about having a round in the chamber but it seems to have a lot of safety features and also looks sexy as fuck ngl.

Carrying a round in the chamber of most modern firearms is completely safe, including Glocks. It's only older guns lacking firing pin and drop safeties that are a little questionable. The M9 is one of the safest guns you can carry on a loaded chamber whether it's cocked, decocked, or safe, and it is virtually impossible to discharge on safe.

I spent the first three months concealed carrying without one in the chamber, and then I got comfortable enough to carry one with the chamber. I would recommend you do the same in so far as carry without one until you feel comfortable enough to carry with one. All the human companions in the game are pro-NCR due to the game never actually getting finished because Obsidian was slow as hell and Bethesda was impatient as hell. Where are you in mass OP? Theres a handful of decent ranges in the southshore. I cant help much if youre inside the 495 loop. I think theres one range open to the public in boston?

Mansfield is pretty good, not the biggest fan of angletree, taunton and sharon have a million fucking members. Ive heard good things about the firearm academy in attleboro but its indoors only. Old colony just renovated their range.
Never shot at braintree or marshfield but i have friends who belong to them.

Also carry one in the chamber. If youre nervous just decock it and leave the safety on. When are you going to need your gun but still have time to rack the slide? Youre basically fucked if you shoot anyone in this state anyway.

It may fall on deaf ears but an M9 or any other quality DA/SA pistol is the safest type of handgun to carry. If you remember to decock (which you should) when reholstering, you are 100% good. The manual safety is overkill in most instances and a lot of Beretta shooters do a G conversion to make the decocking lever only for decocking.

Like most people starting out, you'll have trouble learning how to accurately shoot the first double action shot, google Ernest Langdon's DA/SA videos. It helps a ton.
