They say he was a dead eye out to 500 yards and lived mostly in deer he shot in the national parks. A true outdoors man.

Their dogs, thermals, choppers, swat, rangers all failed to find him.

What kind of rifle did he own? Did he make himself a shotgun or did be own one?

It is noticeable that the information you've got (which likely is the most we have atm) doesn't include the cop's pistols. perhaps they were in the process of dying when he left.
