What cartridge do you find most aesthetically pleasing?

For me it's a tie between .303 British and 7.65 Argentine

.30 TC. It's a shorter, fatter and less tapered 308 Win. The proportions are quite nice.

They weren't any weaker than any other shotshell. shotshells are already very low pressure compared to normal ammo.

Picrel is another cartridge I always thought looked cool, the old Westley Richards Explora (12ga) and Fauneta (20ga). They were for ball-and-shot guns, shotguns with rifled chokes. The projectile is actually a lightweight hollowpoint slug that fits entirely down inside the case. The cone sticking out the front is a hollow sheetmetal aerodynamic cap.

I agree. Should be loaded to 2.8” though. Why the weird COAL?

My submissions:
>8.6 blackout
>6.5 grendel
>6.8 SPC
>5.56 FABRL
>4.85x49mm
>6mm SAW
>10mm

Really no rhyme or reason to it, just some cartridges are unique and pleasant to look at. Picrel features a few of the cartridges in the above list

One more submission. 22 APG or 22 gustaffson or whatever it’s called (there were a few versions). Early experimental SCHV cartridges. OAL is around 1.7”. Can easily feed through the grip. Had something like this become the meta instead of 5.56, we’d have 80kpsi versions right now chambered in MP7s

I posted 8.6 blackout
With an i7 form factor of 0.85, a 102gr bullet would have the same BC as m855. Probabaly the same velocity too, duplicating its trajectory, but with much better efficiency and out of a short barrel.

Did they all use cordite or was it a mix between that and actual gunpowder?
Anonymous No.64211594
>>64211162
AFAIK the very earliest was black powder, then they switched to Cordite, and they kept using Cordite until the 1950's when they switched to 7.62 Nato, which used powder.

NTA but I found an 8.6 case the last time I went to the range for my case comparison collection, then somehow lost it within like 15 minutes and I'm mad at myself. The other thought I was having was "who the fuck was shooting 8.6 on the 50yd range that has berms on both sides and for what fucking reason?"
