The whole goddamn drug trade operates under the reality that a sizeable majority of the merchandise will never make it to the end customer, and that the rest that does make it through will still make them massive profits. The profit margin on this shit literally is THAT high.
FFS, these people build dedicated SINGLE-USE semi-submersibles as smuggling plattforms. And even those things pay for themselves and another dozen more with a single succesful trip. $100k in outboard motors is fucking nothing.
