Springfield Kuna
>gun released ~6 months ago
>initial shilltube hype for a few months
>reports start surfacing about magazine issues
>radio silence
So what's the deal with this gun? Is it G2G or not? Should we wait for the .40 version (the original chambering and probably why the 9mm tapered round is having mag issues)?

I got one, I'm only 250 rounds into it but it's been without fault so far, first I've heard of magazine issues

I would love a MP5 but I'm not paying the 500% COD tax for a gun that costs $300 to manufacture

Anonymous No.64221532 [Report]

It's a stribog clone tho, which is a much simpler roller delay.

yeah, i want a heavy all-steel gun where the charging handle takes up half of it, no last round bolt hold open, and nowhere to mount force multipliers. sounds really cool.

This whole thread and the kuna itself are kinda bizarre. More options in the PCC market that aren't direct blowback is good but it's pretty much a stribog clone with presumably similar issues to the original bogs without the years of fiddlefucking the manufacturer had to do to get things working better. It's also less cool looking. I don't think people advocating for the kuna are organic desu. .45 bog is pretty friggin cool though, nails the UMP aesthetic(even improves on it) while being interesting for the caliber choice.

I like the 45 Bog but it only comes in 8", would love a 5 or 6 inch. My autism demands it is simply too long with a can.

Honestly been thinking about a stribog in 45 just to scratch the UMP itch with a less shitty gun. I already have an MP5 so other 9mm PCCs don't interest me that much.

8"-14" barrels are ideal for pistol caliber performance. If you want a 5" or 6" then get a full-size or long-slide handgun.

It's still a decent option I think but when I shot it the gun still didn't shoot as nicely as an MP5. All these so called non-MP5 roller delays are a lot closer to straight blowback than rolley delay. The same goes for non-roller delay non-straight blowback stuff like B&T and the CMMG Banshee. Really kind of disappointing. The MPX was the only non-MP5 PCC that didn't feel like straight blowback and I don't wanna touch Sig shit with a 10 foot long pole because it might just shoot me in the dick

It should probably be better than the UMP45, given that's a cheap plastic blowback gun (almost a glorified Hi-Point until you spend lots of money rebuilding and SBR'ing a USC45), the Stribog having an aluminum body and delayed action is just cooler.

A dream of mine is that, if the MG registry is ever reopened, I'd want to get an Auto Ordnance M1A1 and then convert it into an open-bolt machinegun, and I'd like to see if I could get .45 Super loads running in it without safety issues or wear problems.
Might need to drill the bolt and add in tungsten weights. Maybe also a nice and squishy buffer pad in the back of the receiver.

A .460 Rowland converted Thompson would also be baller, but, uh, I'm not quite brave enough to do that experiment myself, and then you would 100% need a muzzlebrake. Not for the same reason as for automatic pistols, where the brake adds more weight to the barrel and also pushes it down longer, for dwell time, but because the Thompson has such a dropped stock and it would climb like crazy blasting .460 if you don't tame the muzzle.

How do you only shoot 250 rounds out of a gun during a range trip. Do you shoot for 1 hour?

Rear 1913-picatinny has nothing to do with braces. It's present on many other guns like the sig mpx (rifle). Difference is, sig was smart enough to make the lugs out of aluminum.

Would be based. Stribog doesn't make a .40, so they'd be the only roller delayed .40 pcc in town (outside the uncommon mp5/40).

H&K should bring back the MP5/10 and MP5/40 as semi-auto pistols (complete with the LRBHO) in time for when SBRs get challenged and maybe even deregulated.

Imagine an MP5/10k, with the sweet vertical foregrip and the PDW style folding stock, where it locks open for you, you swap the mag and hit the release, and it's ready right away. Maybe you're even using a pair of clamped together mags for even faster reloading.
Now imagine replacement lower with a selectable FRT setting.

Look man, HK wanted to get rid of their steel SMG entirely. They made the UMP line to replace the MP5 line and begrudgingly kept the MP5 line when everyone hated the UMP.

Reinvent it for an extruded aluminum receiver then. Nobody wants the UMP for a reason, that thing should be a $300 gun.

No, it was due to its strange recoil pattern. Almost everyone in the military who used it claimed that they'd switch it to burst mode or use it in semi-auto only because full-auto was unbearable.

Because it's a straight blowback gun with a lightweight plastic body. No kidding it moves around in full-auto, especially in .40 and .45, the majority of the weapon's weight is moving back and forth all the time.
If the bolt was less heavy, because it was for instance using a delayed action, and if the body of the gun was less lightweight, because it used steel or aluminum, it would handle better. It would cost more, but you get what you pay for.

HK didn't want it to cost more. Why can't you understand that lowering production costs was their goal at the time? It's why they went ahead with the G36 as opposed to the HK33.
Anonymous No.64223729 [Report]
>>64223683
I fucking know why they did it, it's just that they overestimated the UMP as a product, it was too cheap of a design to be successful. The G36 is pretty good (and is in fact mostly better than the HK33), but the UMP is kind not that good (mostly worse than the MP5), which is why the G36 saw sales, but nobody wanted the UMP.
Also, for being concerned about tooling costs, they sure as hell went hard on tooling up for making the 416.

That's simply not true though. Handgun calibers work by penetrating to a specific depth range, and expanding. Often times if you increase velocity too much, you get underpenetration with JHPs simply due to the bullet expanding faster than designed. You still won't reach the threshold of rifle velocities, and you don't really gain much out of it except a slightly increased range where the bullet will still perform as desired.
TL;DR, faster doesn't mean better for handgun bullets with current bullet technology and design.
