Mass texts/phone calls, directly informing the professional media, social media posts, straight up calling Hamas, and dropping inert bombs have all been used. Actually it had fantastic optics as it was primarily created as an explicit counter to Hamas PR messaging. It allows Israel to define the narrative. Everyone gets told where the attack is occurring in advance so they can claim active attempts to minimize collateral deaths, it allows them to put the onus of collateral deaths on the deceased or to blame Hamas for their deaths, and it feeds the media quality footage. Roof knocking was done in the context of limited strikes during, ostensibly, peacetime for the sake of PR management when the destruction of materiel and bases of operation was more important than the assassination of operatives; all while occurring in the confines of dense urban areas full of noncombatants. You are talking about open warfare. Israel didn't use roof-knocking for the majority of the current conflict because it's pretty irrelevant in an active warzone. They have started doing it again as major combat operations have wound down and focus and goals have shifted.
