What’s causing this surge in big wig European companies to make long comp guns?

Well you see they just churn out varying bullshit and convince normies they need it or theyll be outgunned and die. They go from micros to macros and back and forth. Soon we'll return to glawk 19 sized guns then again to micros then again to giant comped 6" barrels

Ben blowhard and the several generations of con artist comp shooters before him who have absolutely no business in self defense, combat or law enforcement shooting training have driven the consumer market in a retard direction. Welcome to retard world. Thanks Ben, you gave the gun world the equivalent of aids.

Lol it's true though. People carrying 2011s are legitimately retarded.

I think it's just the "I want to have the best thing" phenomenon driven by social media. Kind of like people buying stiff sports cars or huge trucks when they don't do anything related to them irl.

I don't think too many are retarded to carry them but the original shadow maybe, kind of, sort of fell into the "combat pistol with competition pedigree" category.

I am guessing everyone is going back to the Hellcat and Shield for carry now.

Also this target shit is taking it a step too far, Shadow was maybe fine, but everyone is going to go back to the Ruger MK4 for target.

These guns aren't marketed towards the average shooter who buys a carry gun and never shoots it. These steel-frame, hammer-fired, match-trigger, long-slide guns are being marketed towards gun enthusiasts who have too many guns collecting dust but want a few more.

Is it unnecessary? Maybe, but you can buy one of these long-slide handguns and live out your inner Agent 47 fantasies.

ngl im starting to think g19 form factor is retarded anyway
for range and open carry a big gun is fine
if you are actually carrying every single day youd buy a hellcat or p365
what the fuck is g19 form factor for? conceal carry but you get 4 more rounds and slightly softer shooting but you will only carry it when you know you are about to get into some shit and never daily (without being spotted)?
a snub nose revolver pocket carry + comp gun would be most practical. you get range and open carry use and you dont need to draw from your cc

Early STIs were awful. Thankfully they had a lot of beta testers to improve their product from awful to mediocre. Now they can compete with nu-Kimber.

>porting's simple and relatively cheap

Pistol calibers are inefficient. May as well make mechanical use of excess gas, if only to reduce perceived recoil with full slide length(s). It's a value proposition in a market becoming as uninspired and boring as contemporary car design. Old Goats like Glock resting on their laurels while charging less than competitively featured same old shit compound this.

Most people who buy handguns don't carry them. They use them for target shooting and nightstand duty.

The "duty pistol" ethos (compact but not too compact, max stupid manual of farms) isn't really a fit for civilians, who mostly benefit from subcompacts and hammer fired guns

Mad that he can't hit the range as often as he'd like. So in impotent range the guy rattles off the first names he can remember, mostly comp shooters. Competition shooters really do know what they're talking about though. We shoot more in a month than most guys shoot in their life.

Because overall the euro market is centered around competitive shooting not personal protection like in the US. Ask any competitive shooter in the US if they think a ported/compensated long slide pistol is better for a match over a compact or subcompact carry gun?

the EU standardized gun laws make it easier to own a pistol in a lot of the bloc than it was 20 years ago, but not carry it, and the amount of paperwork and limits on the number of guns you can own at one time in a lot of countries mean that it makes more sense to own one really nice pistol than one duty-grade pistol.
