There are a lot of military tensions and build-ups between Morocco and Algeria but..

How will such a war even occur considering the massive size of those countries?

I can't imagine some ukraine-style frontline of that size, not even America/China could sustain this.

For one, your comparison image could actually place their borders next to each other

If 'size' of the country mean anything then the Bongs wouldn't have gotten the largest empire in history and Russia would have conquered the world.

if they do fight it'll be air/missile strikes on each other and a bit of border skirmishing
you know, the usual
neither of them really expect to be able to overthrow the other without causing a war of national resistance

Having less land is a good thing Retard, the denser the population the more easy it is to defend.

Last I checked Britain had lost their empire and Russia was fighting all of Nato with a hand tight behind there back.

Like tight as in cool, or tight as in tension? How tight is the hand anyway? And back of where? Does this mean NATO has a hand loose behind here front?

Desert is where the war/invasion will occur, it's easier than invading the mountainous regions.

OP here. My question is more about the nature of the military strategies, will it be some static artillery war? some mecanized blitzkrieg type of war?

>>64241140
I'm talking about a full scale war, similar to the Ukraine war. Probably triggered by Morocco trying to fully annex western sahara.
Anonymous No.64241222 [Report] >>64241230
>>64241216
It wouldn't happen. There is no possibility of a full scale war because no one has delusions of being stronger than the other side

Tensions are at an all time high, western countries are recognizing western sahara as part of Morocco one by one.

>no one has delusions of being stronger than the other side

idk Algeria has a fair shot at it if no other party is involved.
>Morocco has increased its military spending by 2.6% in 2024, bringing the total to $5.5 billion
>Algeria stood out as Africa’s biggest military spender, with a defense budget of $21.8 billion in 2024

not saying it's likely, but clearly as Algeria is losing the diplomatic front of the western sahara war, it surely won't lose the military one. Some sort of last resort option.

Those 330 BMPT-62s are meant as reserve/urban combat vehicles but against Morocco they are pain on tracks. They can engage anything up to a non western MBT. They could have been designed better but they are damn fine support armor.

The 300 BMP-Ts however are trash and are a criminal waste of tank hulls. They should convert them into BMPT-72Ms.

Algeria operates the only 5th gen aircraft in Africa. They should dominate the air ear assuming the russians were somewhat realistic with their SU-57 claims.

Is it wrong that i think Algeria should turn everyone of its IFVs/Tanks into something like the BMPT-62 then trade the leftovers for a few hundred Songun-Hos besides the T-90s?

The BMPT-72 terminators are a bad set up if they have the twin barrels, they are a waste of a tank hull. The BMPT-62 set up is much better, cheaper and more capable. Their lack of random MANPADs and 14.5mm is a object of worry however.

>>64241441
They are also one of the only non western nations besides the DPRK that has the ability to mobilize a real armored division* and in much better terrain than the DPRK.

*Besides Algeria and the KPA 105th are there many real armored divisions left anymore?

Relying on Russia to deliver armor in the current context wouldn't be wise.
Norktard !5PczJ/8PMc No.64241555 [Report]
>>64241493
They will not go full PRC, they will go full US/Nork (possibly both) before that.

My biggest concern in terms of equipment is that BMPT-62s need better armor on those BMP-2 turrets, you have a upgraded T-62 hull armed to the teeth but with zero autocannon protection for the turret. It's a infantry support tank with cardboard as turret armor. The T-62 turret ring can handle a huge amount of weight and recoil, they need some sort of 'snap on' armor to protect the turret.

It is a T-62 with a BMP-2 turret stuck onto it with a couple ATGMs, the obvious weak point is the turret. It needs a armor upgrade and the turret ring can handle it. Just stick 12 inches of Lexan, Aluminum oxide and NRA on it and they are fine, better than that even.

that's still theoretical. and even then, don't you think Morocco would also try to modernize their air force in response?

but you seem to forget one point though
Algeria is massively corrupt, half of its population is under 35 and the unemployment rate of the youth is very high
I don't have to explain you that a minor fuck up or an unpopular war against their direct neighbor and things will blow up internally
