The 4chan hack "leaks" were heavily doctored
The slow trickle of partial info leaks was not characteristic of a hack done out of spite
It was characteristic of someone who just realized they stumbled into something they should pretend they didn't see, and is afraid of anyone knowing that they know what they know
The hacker excused themselves by claiming they were protecting the ordinary users, but truth be told, the US government is never NOT involved in sites where CP and mass shooter manifestos are posted. They were protecting themselves and were likely contacted by US feds shortly after the hack, most likely, to be told what they could say if they wanted to remain free/alive.
Not many people know there used to be a 4chan ban tracker hosted by the FBI that only worked up until the hack. It wasn't always hosted by the FBI. They co-opted it. Yes, law enforcement is 100% involved in this site and mods and hiro cooperate when law enforcement says they need to cooperate. Civilians do not janny on /b/ for a reason.
What confuses me is they go after joke threats targeted at chitwood, but not loli threads and the literal bestiality general that /trash/ makes every friday in which a laredo based zoosadist borderline doxes himself weekly. But knowing feds, they probably think "woah, why would i arrest someone just like me?"
