Americans saying drones dont actualy matter because the innovations being found beetwen two backwater slavic shitholes are like european power in ww2 still thinking the battleship was key to war and ignoring the discovery(russia vs japan) that cheap torpedo destroyers and airpower was better.

We know drones matter, we've been using them for decades now. Fucking Obama was called (among many other things) the drone president
>uhh I mean the flying RC-XDs
We encountered them in Syria. Moreover at this point they're little more than mobile IEDs. Scary? Yeah. Currently effective since the equipment in use is mostly 80s vintage crap? Absolutely. Uncounterable? Absolutely not

Battleships will be man's last stand against clankers
>oh, your clanker swarm can drop infinity hand-grenades, that's cute
>oh, your smaller swarm of bigger clankers can penetrate the unarmoured sections
>oh, your few, massive, slow clankers can penetrate the main armour? get active defenced wirebacks
>hey clanker, is that a botbase within 20 miles of the shore?

>Americans saying drones dont actualy matter
drones do matter, the US has been operating UAVs for decades and they vastly exceed the ukranian drones in capability

> and ignoring the discovery(russia vs japan) that cheap torpedo destroyers and airpower was better.
airpower was not deployed in the russo-japanese war
while torpedoes proved themselves as effective weapons during that same war, battleships were not actually obsoleted by torpedoes
torpedo boat destroyers were able to successfully counter torpedo boats, and battleships remained strategic assets

>is mad because he still hasn’t got his dreadnought moment
I get that people making fun of your opinion in the other thread, but no, the US isn’t ignoring drones, drones are simply easily countered with technologies like APKWS and all wars will not turn into a contest of who can produce shaheds the fastest, shithead. The thirdie championing this as their great equalizer are actually the only ones getting raped by cheapass drones because they will never be able to afford, invent, produce or buy the technologies that make drone swarms a triviality.
Anonymous No.64265410 [Report]
Americans don't see them as the cure all for war.
Turdies want to pretend that drones are a cure-all for all military issues.

Reality is that drones have mostly changed reconnaissance, scouting, and asymmetric attacks on supply lines. Outside of these main roles they are mostly useless once electronic warfare comes into play.

Every advancement and innovation necessitates an advancement or innovation to counter it, and the race continues on.
Anti-drone tech will catch up and negate the advantage, and then another change will happen that takes war into a different direction.
Ukraine is one big bloody R&D project. The real conflict in the world these days is over how empires will operate in the digital age.

>The country that first fielded drones, used drones en masse and has been burying Muslims with drones since probably before you were born, doesn't understand drone warfare
>The people who do understand it are those just now making their own drones and using them in missions
>In addition, despite these drones falling to basic counter measures that the US already has more of than anyone else in the world, the US still doesn't understand them because reasons
The US has been actively droning people for decades. Civ tech catching up just offers our already expansive drone force more options for wider deployment. There is still 0 other nations that come close to fielding drones the same way. Yes I know you are impressed by swarms, but for the US a swarm is a high quality HE barrage delivered by our high tech weapon of choice

Absolutely self contained AI assisted drones will make jamming less useful, but palletized lasers will likely be a common thing by the time that tech is ruggedized.

drones dont matter in a war between 2 or more global super powers is probably the point. when youre at war with a neighboring country that you can just fly over the boarder into or set up swarms inside of, yeah theyre pretty dangerous and efficient at halting major offensives or striking into enemy territory without risking expensive weapons

You could also just mass produced mostly retarded drones in such large quantities to the point were even a 1% success rate is still significant threat as a stop gap till they figure out true autonomy.

I don’t think he implied it was a big loss, i think he merely demonstrated how trivially easy these things are to counter.
“But we only lost 3000 dollars” is kind of a worthless argument when the oppertunity to deal damage with those 3000 dollars has come and gone and the drone-proof forces heading your way have just passed over a beachhead you failed to stop them from crossing, because your weapons were ineffective.

>Russo-Japanese War
>Began with a surprise nighttime attack by 15 Japanese destroyers against the Russian fleet anchored in harbor which only scored three hits, damaging just two out of the seven battleships present, both of which were repaired in time for the Battle of the Yellow Sea despite the Russians not having a drydock that could fit them
>Ended by the Battle of Tsushima, literally the only instance of a decisive fleet action between battleships in human history, which forced Russia to sue for peace
You couldn't have picked a worse example.

Carrying out high-precision coordinated strikes is not really the purpose of drones, it is more used to constantly harass enemy lines like artillery in 1914
