In the original script, he's dismissed because drunk, and he steals a missile that he puts in the second cockpit, then crashes in the primary weapon. Test audiences hated it because it was less of a sacrifice, while the Sidewinder jamming was more poignant.

The filtering doesnt bother me as much because it can help with contrast, etc. but it can be a bit heavy handed. The shooping is more concerning. Then again with current cameras and shit what they can capture is pretty amazing
