I personally like my Leupold VX Fredom 3-9x40 Rimfire MOA, about $300. The 2-7x Rimfire seems to get down to about ~$260 on Palmetto State Armory's site weirdly enough. Reg price ~$270-280 depending on the Leupold dealer. I also like their 1" rifleman rings on my 10/22. I used Medium height. You may be able to get away with low but I can't say for sure. These are about $27 at Cabelas/Bass Pro. Their website also gives torque values if you have a FAT wrench/really care that much (I do, but...).

Top rail on any modern 10/22 should be picatinny; I don't think they even make their old dovetail rail anymore, though as much as I miss it, it's near impossible to find anything quality in dovetail short of a few air rifle scope/mount makers.
>I know the scope needs rings. my question is, will those rings fit onto my stock 10/22? It came with a top rail attachment that I think is picatinny.
Did it come with the scope?

>Taking 22lr to even 200-300yd is very hard
What target size are we even talking about? I hit steel (~12'x12') out at 200 easy and 300 I'm just starting on. Almost 160 inches of drop at 300 yards, though, lol. About 55" at 200. I'd say up to 100yds from the bench could be accurate with some practice, 200 you could hold okay groups, 300 maybe just steel.
>But combined you need barely any mag at all (if any)
Positively IDing game or even just being able to clearly see your target is absolutely worth it. 9x is reasonable; a little higher I wouldn't mind but given the drop, with a 50yd zero you're not going to shoot past 200 or maybe 250 with 9x zoom+second focal plane unless you can dial for drop.
>and even airsoft-tier shit will probably hold zero.
Absolutely not. There's so many garbage scopes that won't hold zero from just walking around with the gun and handling bumps on the road/bumps from storing the gun or putting it in the car. Trust me. Barska, not even once.
