Yeah, you're not gonna be allowed to own a gun in the U.S from now on. You could own simpler antique style weapons, by that I mean cap and ball revolvers and muskets, but if your shrink advised against you possessing a weapon, probably they have a pretty good basis for that assessment.
Are you taking pills for it? Schizophrenia is pretty well treatable, as long as you stay on your prescription. Do you feel generally happy with life, also?
You could try challenging it, but I wouldn't bet on results, and your psych said that shit for a reason.

Blackpowder IS fun though. Just the slow and methodical loading of a musket, and the smell, it's very relaxing.

You might lose a bit of hearing, yes. You're probably not going to lose a dramatic amount of hearing (unless the muzzle or cylinder gap is right next to your ear or some shit), but there could certainly be some damage done.
Is it the .357 Magnum one and you're loading Magnums? That's gonna be very loud in a short barreled revolver like that, hell, it's already pretty damn loud with a full sized revolver with a 6" barrel, it's almost like a light rifle cartridge in a handgun.
Is the shot happening indoors or outdoors? There'll be a big difference between if you fire the gun in an open street or yard, where the sound gets somewhere to go, versus if you're firing it inside of your car, or in a concrete stairwell, where the sound will be much harsher on your ears regardless of caliber.
That said, potentially losing a tiny bit of your hearing in the unlikely case that you have to take a shot or two, versus getting stabbed or shot yourself (and thus probably killed), that's an easy pick for me. One time minor hearing damage MIGHT also heal a BIT after it happens, as long as you don't keep getting exposed to more in the short term, but I'm unsure of the science of that.
