Yes, and it is generally speaking a lifetime prohibition. There is some talk of restoring 2A rights to ex felons who have demonstrated genuine reform a long time after being released from prison but there isn't anything concrete and it probably won't happen.
You can get your rights back after getting a pardon from the governor or president though. That creates an awkward situation where you still have to declare that you were convicted on the 4473 and hope the dealer is willing to run the background check anyway (99% of them won't).
>>64277038
You can own BP guns in most states but not BP itself. That loophole works well enough to acquire them since no background checks happen (except for NJ apparently), but can still get you in trouble if caught.

You can’t even run a background if you’re using software like gunstoremaster and the customer answers a qualifying question wrong. I only knowingly dealt with one felon with restored rights, and he answered all the questions as anyone else would. He received an instant deny however because he was approved for a shotgun (don’t really know/understand this part), but tried to buy a 590 shockwave. He only told me this after the fact, I would have told him it’s not considered a shotgun had he explained his situation before.

It depends on what kind of felony conviction you have

>murder
>attempted murder
>aggravated assault/battery
>rape
>molestation
>CP
>robbery
>basically any offense involving a firearm or application to buy one
>drug charges of any kind
>domestic violence charges of any kind

Yeah, you're never getting your guns back short of receiving a pardon.

>embezzlement
>fraud
>reckless driving and/or alcohol abuse-related charges (provided you haven't killed or seriously injured anyone)
>regular assault/battery

You can apply for restoration of civil rights, including right to bear arms, upon completion of your sentence/parole, although this process takes years and you'll run into various barriers when trying to buy them.

Everyone lies because it's an invalid law.

Alcohol is the single biggest contributor to gun crime out of every controlled substance. But using marijuana once, according to a recent ruling, removes your gun rights for life. If every bottle of booze were replaced with a jar of pot, gun crime would plummet ~50%.

If the US government can not be reasonable then their laws will not be complied with. Ergo, everyone lies.

>>64280785
Just 4% of blacks are responsible for 100% of black crime, and those 4% do a lot of crime. The problem is not that they are black, it is that AGs and judges of a certain kind keep letting them off easy, and "easy on juvies" policies coming from a political party that largely lives in gated communities and has no idea how genuinely, inherently evil some minors are.

Law enforcement activity is sufficient to cause the black race to evolve so long as the laws are actually enforced. Most of us are doing fine.

>>64277671
If you are stupid enough to go to a shrink i doubt you can handle a firearm without falling for fuddlore and becoming more dangerous for it. All they do is accuse everyone who is not an extroverted wagie who feels fulfilled by regimented wage labor and prussian style education of being mentally ill and in need of fixing.

The few genuine neurological problems that exist (like actual schizophrenia and actual clinical depression) have been made irrelevant and doubtful by shrinks lumping them in with minor personality variations that are incompatible with the demands of employers and educators. It is the same as russians and their slow progressive schizophrenia.

https://publichealth.jhu.edu/sites/default/files/2023-05/2023-may-cgvs-alcohol-misuse-and-gun-violence.pdf
>alcohol misuse (as measured through DUI and other alcohol-related convictions) increases the risk of interpersonal gun violence including intimate partner violence.
> One-third (32.8%) of handgun purchasers with prior alcohol-related convictions were subsequently arrested for a violent or firearm-related crime compared to 5.7% of those with no prior criminal history. After controlling for sociodemographic variables, individuals with a prior alcohol-related conviction had 4.2 times higher risk for violent or gun-related crimes compared to those gun purchasers with no prior criminal history. The authors found that alcohol misuse, as defined by alcohol-related convictions, was a better predictor of future violence than other risk factors including age, sex, and even a criminal history of violence.
There is more real data supporting removing gun rights an thus denying membership in "the people" for people with 2 or more DUIs than the efficacy of removing convicted felons (who could have done something as meaningless as shooting the wrong bird at the wrong time) from "the people"

The US does not have a gun problem

They can’t own black powder firearms. It’s a misconception because of the federal GCA firearm definition. Nearly all states outlaw prohibited possessors from owning black powder firearms because their definition of a firearm is a weapon that expels a projectile using a gas/explosive and/or the muzzle energy of the firearm being higher than a BB gun.
>>64277671
I recommend that you don’t buy a gun. We already have enough mass shooters.
>>64282216
Using marijuana once doesn’t remove your gun rights. It’s one year or so from usage and that said usage was “experimental” rather than a full-blown addiction. You basically only get denied for having a weed card, smelling like weed, talking about drugs in the gun store, etc. The only way you get convicted is by self snitching, like literally taking pics of yourself smoking a crack pipe during the timeframe you said you weren’t an unlawful user or addicted to.

There doesnt need to be. It simply asks if you are an unlawful user or if you are addicted to anything listed in 21F. Now we need to answer if any one really goes out of their way to have chug a soda or enjoy a cig simply just because. Or maybe its something conatined in what they consume that makes them want it... Like an addiction. In which case, even a habitual single soda/cig a day is easily argued to be just that.

There does not need to a law stating when some one is addicted to something. As addiction is defined as the physiological or psychological dependence on a substance. Having one a day is enough to argue that you are.

Therefore, just about every single person who filled out a 4473 has lied on the form. I'd wager easily >90% with how unhealthy the US is.
