Yes, a non dogshit rear sight. That is easy to fix though.

Mini-14s are generally underrated, but they are also very overpriced nowadays. Plus you have to factor the added cost of the expensive proprietary magazines, and they rock in which takes practice to do properly. Other than that, they are genuinely pretty nice.

They are quite inaccurate compared to more modern rifles, they are the most unreliable piston rifles ive ever had the displeasure to use, the factory mags are the only ones that work and even they arnt great compared to ak or brownells ar mags, the sights are bad, and they lack the ability easily mount and hold zero with lams and cotis. Even mounting a flashlight requires jumping through hoops. Why fucking bother? Id rather just buy an inland m1 carbine at that point. The only thing they have going for them is subjective visual appeal. My 1301 shoots better groups at 100 yards with slugs than most mini-14s and frankly that is unacceptable accuracy. The they are more accurate than the shooter shit is bullshit. A 3 moa shooter shooting a 5 moa gun becomes far worse than a 3moa shooter shooting a 1moa gun. Other than its looks, fuck the mini 14. I am positive the only reason it exists is ban states

i have a hogue ghillie mini 14. its extremely unreliable and not very accurate. but it looks neat and is fun to shoot. on balance its alright i guess.

Even as a sporter, it's outdated. Sights are nonadjustable dogshit, that gas block is better off as an adjustable pinned one piece, picatinny is the norm now, and don't they still have barrel whip issues even after the 500 series update? And that's aside from the fact they still use proprietary mags, and not going at least the AI route when they made M1 rifles that feed from AR-10 mags.

I want one to match my B-TM'd 10/22 in the worst way; the B-TM is so good when hunting in heavy brush. Also someone at my range threw the box for their .300 Mini in the trash and now I really really hope I get to see that thing some day. If that thing works even half as good as I want it to I want one and an A-TM stock for hunting. Getting to listen to one before I buy one would be even better.

I most definitely am not. When the Mini-14 first came out, they were getting 5-8 MOA. Nowadays, people who did work on them are bragging about 2 MOA.

2. The fact that with a finely tuned rifle and match ammo, the Mini-14 can hit 1-1.75 MOA, while other designs' finely tuned rifles can hit sub-MOA, only serves to prove that one of the Mini-14's selling points is not its accuracy.

While I do enjoy mine, and I think it looks really cool it falls into the same category as AK's where they are good enough rifles, but they cost significantly more while achieving less performance than an ar.

Haters will hate, but a chopped mini in 300 blackout, folding stock, can and a light is a great piece (if you're not a filthy poor like me)
