No one ever thought anything you just wrote. Both of those nations have militaries barely adequate for policing their own populations. No one ever thought a conflict between them would ever amount to anything more than a few sorties and skirmishes. It's just desert tribal warfare. They've been doing this for millennia in that area, the names of the involved "countries" changes, but it's just goat herders and dirt farmers squabbling over a bit of sand. No one in the west would care if Israel weren't a western proxy.
