Would it be doable to make a missile that works as awacs for other missiles?

Sure. IIRC the P-800 Granit kinda did that in the early eighties, they fire off a pack of them towards an enemy fleet and the missiles fly as a group at low level to not be shot down, but one of them goes up higher to look for targets, automatically replaced by another if it gets shot down.

Yes but it would be super expensive and without comms with an actual AWACs you're at the mercy of the AI. Maybe it'll do what you want, maybe it'll do the dumbest thing imaginable. No way to tell.
