Bangladesh Army Adopts Czech CZ BREN 2 Rifle
Bangladesh Army is on path to standardising the CZ Bren 2 advanced combat rifles with complete ToT from the Czech Republic

Anyways, how is it, k/? any burger user of this here?

Haven't used it myself, but the bren is at this point well-tested in Ukraine, with many thousands of soldiers using them for years on end, often in muddy trench conditions and with high round counts. They've performed quite well overall, so it's only natural that they'll start getting more contracts over their competitors, which are similarly priced but without the proven performance.

interesting. Last time I looked into it they were going to adopt the AK 15 and the BREN was 3rd place behind the Turkish AK clone. The Bren is probably the best of the 3tbh, what caliber is it in?

From what I heard, it was India who pressured Russia not to sell the AK-15 as their newly adopted AK-203 will become inferior then. India did almost the same thing with pakistan back in 2018

Regarding Mi-28, I think the both army and air force would have gone for the AH-1Z / Apache, but the previous regime fucked it up for their political benefits. Now, I think they will go for the turkish/italian or, instead drones completely

They used to be popular in Canada because AR-15, Mini-14, SG550, HK33, MCX etc. were all banned.

Same reason as why the type 81 became popular after AKs and Vz.58 were banned.

Canada banned the bren 2 and type 81 banned in December 2024. They will be confiscated from owners and donated to Ukraine.

I've got one. 14" sbr. It's a slick little rifle. Light, compact, absolutely fantastic ergos. Trigger is crisp but nothing exceptional. Big downside is that CZ USA doesn't import a lot of parts and the aftermarket is pretty sparse, so if you lose a spring or break a firing pin you're pretty much fucked.

I had the 11.5 bren 2 and desu it was the best rifle i've ever used and ive shot pretty much all of them. Retro AR, Gucci AR, Krink, FAL, AKM, Beryl, galil, aug, scar. Great ergos, extremely comfy to shoot, ambi, stock folds, built well.
The reason I sold it is because they made a retarded choice to use a pencil barrel and you have zero options to change it. After a mag dump the groups open up to an unacceptable level. I can't imagine how bad it is with full auto. Really sucks because I loved that thing.

Also helps that Japan is helping them build modern coal power plants which sure is dirty as fuck but they already have India as a neighbor and there are ways to mitigate the ecological damage of that even if just a little bit and Japan is known for having actual fucking standards unlike when China builds something an it collapses later on or makes the local water undrinkable so I'm sure they've got a good deal there in the single dot on flag alliance.

That's a concern for later... Dandia used the frenchies to halt the multi-engine jet acquirement in 2020-21 when their intelligence knew that the air force had selected the yurofag typhoon in 2018-19. They used dandian BAL cult just to delay process by convincing Emanuel Macaroni / Florence Parly(a complete pro-dandian frenchie defense minister btw) that the air force had also interested to buy the Rafaaaal lol. These are not just theories but, connections can be made easily. Also looks like so far, that the french foreign policy in south asia is still run by dandia. I think frenchies are going to get fucked like the jeets now and will have a civil war, the first one to start in europe in the coming years!!

I personally would have preferred any stealth jets instead of eurofags or any 4th gen twin engines because the cost and time to acquire these are almost similar but, the air chief already confirmed about the approval of freakin 2 billion euros...

Japan is India's major ally. They will back stab the banglas when the time comes for sure and, now it has become more relevant considering the current geo-political scenario.
>Technically, China and USA are the only allies of Bangladesh.

The Bren in 7.62x39 has a really bad rep in the civilian market with shit gas issues and slow roll out of fixes from CZ. I know the French GIGN adopted the 7.62x39 Bren, but how a gun manufacturer addresses issues with their government contracts is going to always be miles different from how they address their international market issues.

This reminds me of the time when Japan was supposed to build a Toyota factory in Bangladesh...but for some invisible reason, they shifted it to Myanmar and before going to production civil war broke out. They got fucked because there are some theories that the jeets did that as India had just started to export their subpar trucks pickups to bangladesh and they also had plans to gradually flood the market with their shitty cars replacing the majority japanese cars there, though that never happened maybe cause the cars are shittier than their pickups.

LMG question:
The WW2 Johnson LMG used by paratrooper marines apparently had both an open and closed bolt modes. From an AR15 lower I can think of a pretty simple sear system that would lock the bolt to the rear when releasing the trigger on auto.

The purpose is to avoid cookoffs by keeping the weapon open bolt while in auto mode, but allows for closed bolt single shot operation.

Is anyone aware of this being used in other machine guns? Obviously it doesn't work in a fixed firing pin open bolt MG.

The way that I heard it from someone that knows, they weren't enamored of 5.56mm in short barrels (sensible) and they were concerned about ammunition availability in Africa (less sensible). When I asked about the second part and mentioned that, you know, they could just bring their own or something, I was told that not everyone has an American-level logistical system and that sometimes shit happens, so they wanted the option to source ammunition locally. I still don't completely understand that line of reasoning, but I've had other conversations with him before about other French procurements and everything else he said made sense. I don't think that he'd lie to me but who truly knows what goes on in the mind of a Frenchman?

I like the concept of a service rifle with a polymer receiver that the G36 created and the bren is just a nicer gun than the AK clone. The AK clone is still a better gun than the train wreck that is the AK 15 though

nah I think it's over, it says the Bren was already adopted. The Army are only gonna have one rifle. Auxiliaries like the BGB and national guard still use type 56s, So I'm guessing the Army will all get Brens and everyone else will get hand me down Bd 08s.

If anything goes wrong getting the Bren licence it's defo gonna be the Turk AK since Bangladesh officials already visited them to sign some kind of production agreement. But, I heard those were for like air to ground missiles, bombs and drones

They should be buying ar15s from palmetto state armoury and put some more money into drip, nvg monocular and laser modules instead. They will give them little edge compared to what they already have and is not cost effective.

It's a good rifle but come on, it's Bangladesh, they have better shit to be spending money on.

Great rifle. Shoots fine. Muzzle device is weird but it works. Adjustable gas system is convenient.
Doesn't use an AR FCG which is alright but good luck using a FRT.
Disassembly isn't too complicated, more than an AR but not by much.

TLDR. GIGN wanted to use big hollowpoint bullets with STOPPAN POWAR that do not penetrate walls inside houses. They also wanted a small form factor so they can conceal them in bags so the folding stock was a plus. And because it's a newer system it could be easily adjusted for subsonic rounds to be used with suppressors.

I don't think money is the problem when the current service rifle is getting almost 40 years old. Military standard looks better than their adversaries as well. Pakistan is probably the leading country standard wise in the region and Bangladesh used to be a part of it.

I mean it's serviceable, but you'd probably be better off with .300BLK if you wanted to go that route.

But even then, outside of like under 10" barrel length? 5.56(or 5.45) out preforms it. Flatter shooting, better velocity, better wounding, lighter weight ammo, you get the idea.
Anonymous No.64397381 [Report]
>>64396909
if you're not using it as an overgrown submachine gun round with the corresponding small form factor and barrel length it's not worth it, I agree
.300BLK is better for that if you have logistics but if you're scrounging ammo from decrepit soviet stockpiles in the middle of French Africa the way to go is 7.62x39
