The people who grew up watching Ghost in the Shell and Trigun now have jobs and can afford they toys they lusted after when they were kids.

It's the same reason why boomers pay 5 figures for old Colts and Winchesters because they watched picrel when they were growing up

Yeah, the Caster is such an awesome consept.
Oh, this bullet? Yeah, it's just a big bullet.
This one? Well, that's more like a granade launcher.
This one? It makes a weird electro-magnetic distortion that short-circuits everything and burns every electronic nearby.

Oh, This one? Well.. it shoots a miniature black hole what tears space-time to shreds ...and everything that happens to be nearby.

And those are just some of the bullets it can fire. Some of the exotic ones are just legends you never see.

The guys in IK aren't smiths, I don't think, they're makes that load spells into their bullets so they have them ready to go at a moment's notice and don't have to spend time chanting spells in the middle of battle. Neat side effect is that the muzzle flash is accompanied by glowing runes that show up in the air around their gun's muzzles.

Agreed, it's one of the better magitech guns I've ever seen in fiction. The design but also the "feel" of it for lack of a better word given that of course we don't actually feel it IRL, but the whole heavy duty loading procedure, single shot nature, the cost, and that particularly with the super rare heavy duty spells that it cannot be spammed and only gets used when it's truly needed were all neat. And while obviously a fictional design it doesn't feel as garishly overdone as many.

Angel Links sucks. The plot of nearly every episode follows the exact same formula, and it's not interesting:
>Bad guy of the week
>We're gonna fight him.
>Oh shit bad guy is winning, whatever shall we do?
>Better blast him wit the Links Cannon
>phew, glad that worked.
>roll credits

The character crossover with Outlaw Star is very minor. None of the main Outlaw Star crew feature in Angel Links. Fred Luo, the gay weapons dealer appears briefly, which is sad because he's a much more interesting character than any of the Angel Links crew. Duuz (the dinosaur man) and Valeria from one of the Outlaw Star episodes appear, but that's about it.

And yes, he actually ruined the market that badly. I talked to an middle age guy with a supra at a vintage car meet whose dad had one and he was completely flabbergasted at finding out they are now million dollar cars because his dad's car sold for under $10k in the late 80s.

Well yeah, he was a shojo artist before he got into sci-fi. Also, all manga artists are influenced by others--a lot of the art of that era was inpsired by Leiji Matsumoto's Space Pirate Harlock universe. I'll be part of the minority that thinks the 90s show is wholly better than the manga for having such a clear message and sticking to it. Manga tends to always run into the problem where it can only escalate and you always get huge apocalyptic world ending big battles no matter what the rest of the series is. Stampede is closer to the manga, yeah, but I would argue that makes it worse. 90s Trigun is such a genuinely good depiction of morality and idealism and what it costs you internally and what effects it can have on society depending on what you believe. DESU Vash in the 90s one is probably my favorite portrayal of a Superman archetype in any media because at the end of the day he still holds true to his values.

Plus the guns and OP are /k/ino.

Overall I enjoy the 90s anime to stampede. I liked the additional context stampede has thanks to the macim dna but everything else was worse
Turning the 45lc to 22lr is another sin I don't see mentioned much but a sin it is

New one is coming out soon.

Ironically the fact they screwed up and swapped in 22 means we can probably get a top break revolver for it…

I thought his revolver in the original series was a .454? What's the rationale for the change in the new series anyway?

Closer to the manga, yes.
Vash is a goofy goofer the entire anime, however. In the old one he got serious when shit got serious but in the new one he goes kung fu panda. And the new gun is .22. Why.
and a fail that the manga had, that was corrected by the anime is that the gung ho guns being created by a weird cult that is 100% loyal to knives. In the old anime the gung ho guns had varying degrees of loyalty and common intetest with the bbeg, but this dude was so fucked by his fight against ChadVash he was forced to hire those goons while his body recovers.

Lastly the old anime is presented as western in space? Alternative earth? Post apoc? But as the show goes on and the plot unravels it genre-shifts to eleven which is KOOL. The new anime begins with Knives sabotaging the colony mission
