Where did this neofudd opinion start about newer Berettas being "not good" or whatever? As far as I can tell they are just fine and work great. The lower end models like the 92FS and M9 suffer from having visible machining marks on the slides now, but other than prickling the most autistic autist's sensibilities this doesn't effect function at all. I've got a new production M9 and it's been totally fine, literally zero problems. I keep hearing guys saying stupid shit like "oh you gotta get one made before 20XX" or "oh you have to get an Italian one broooo" and they are literally all the same functionally.

Can someone explain this to me? I'm just not seeing their quality or reliability drop

Slide mounted safety is fine, great even. It 100% renders the gun safe, there's no way you could get the thing to go off on its own even if you hammered at the back of the slide. Accidentally engaging it while racking the slide is a meme eventuality

Sure the ergonomics are not perfect because the fat grip but it’s far better, and safer in the hands of a trained user than a condition 0 gun where the striker slips with any jostling

Open actions weren't a problem for the M1 Garand or the SMLE. They're even less of an issue for a gun that spends most of it's time in a holster.
The slide mounted safety frees up space on the frame for hands. Many people prefer slide mounted safeties for this reason.
