I know a guy who was thinking about doing it but backed out when they told him he would have to come in as an E-4 instead of an E-6 to get the rate he wanted.

So obviously you could attend higher education in Brazil, but if your goal is to commission, then that foreign degree could present additional challenges as you process your application to their officer training. Best bet is to figure out how to get into a Lithuanian university. I can tell you that I applied to the university in Kaunas back in 2019 and they happily accepted my American secondary education. In your case, I suspect you will have to have your transcripts and any other requested academic documents translated into Lithuanian or English.

You have opportunities that most don't, so take advantage of those opportunities. Once again asking for information and advice

>What specifically do Rangers do that Green Berets dont
Is it solely airfield seizure missions?

>How much more often do Rangers see combat compared to SF
>How frequently is that combat Direct Action style raids / assaults for SF
I have been told Rangers can expect cycles of deployment of 2-3 months deployed to 4-6 months of recovery/training and that almost all time deployed would be spent in or near combat even in "peace time" such as now (ignoring goings on in Mexico Venezuela Canada and Greenland etc)

I have also been told Green Berets rarely (if ever) see peacetime combat and even during GWOT (and previous conflicts) they saw a fraction of the combat that other groups saw (if they were even "lucky" enough to be part of the groups operating in that theater)

Any information would be appreciated as finalizing my aspirations requires making very difficult decisions

Anonymous No.64386575 [Report] >>64386588 >>64387796
>>64386558
The general rule for 35 series is that your options are INSCOM, FORSCOM, or SOCOM. If you want INSCOM, put Meade, Georgia, Texas, and Hawaii on your list. Most of FORSCOM locations will be similar to each other, with variations only for the type of unit (ABCT vs SBCT vs IBCT and the corresponding deployment cycles). It's hard to guarantee SOCOM based on duty station choice alone, and if you don't have airborne already you probably won't get it, but if you do happen to go to a post that has a SOCOM unit you might go to them anyway, based on manning.
Barracks wise, most duty stations are similar these days, with the amount of truly horrific barracks buildings shrinking slowly over time. Most will have 2 bedrooms joined by a common area with a common bathroom. Some of the newer ones are meant to directly emulate college dorms or apartments, though you'd have to go to (iirc) Hood or Irwin for those.
I'd say throw Japan or Germany or Italy on your list just because. You might not have strong feelings about any of those places but if you do get to go you'll have a good time, regardless of the quality of the barracks, just because of the locations themselves.

>The number of eligible recruits in the country has also shrunk dramatically. According to a senior Army official, only 8% of the population is eligible for “clean enlistment” with no waivers, much lower than the 23% found in a 2020 DOD study. To combat this, the Army more than doubled the number of medical, academic, and criminal waivers granted to recruits in 2024 compared to 2022. More than 400 felony waivers were included in the 2024 waivers, up from 98 in 2022.

What MOS? I was at Riley for like 5 years. Like the other anon said, avoid living in Junction City or Ogden if you can help it as they're both complete armpits. There might be some okay apartments in JC somewhere but imo it's not worth it, even if it cuts your commute down.
Manhattan is decent. KC is two hours' drive away if you're looking for big city stuff during your free time, and you can probably make it to Denver for 4 day weekends if don't mind the drive. Other than that there's basically nothing around. I guess Milford is nice if you love boating and fishing but you gotta love them a whole lot for it to make up for the posts' relative lack of proximity to anything else of real interest, compared to a place like Carson.
I hope you like Poland because that's basically the only place either brigade regularly deploys to. Germany too sometimes. The CAB does actually do "real" deployments but idk when they're going next.

Pretty cool, but unfortunately I can't speak to anything more specific about what your unit might be like. I was an 11b and only interacted with TACPs like once. If you're attached to/working for either of the ABCTs, you'll be protected from some of the nonsense because you're in another service, but you're still going to Poland with them.
I'd say definitely live in Manhattan unless you're trying to save a ton of money. Your quality of life will be vastly better.

I genuinely considered it. I really did. Then BLM riots happened and we got Body cams on every single cop in the US. After watching body cam footage for hundreds of hours on youtube I can safely say:
Being a cop is worse paid and more dangerous than being in the military.
>Daily unpredictable calls
>Daily wondering if this domestic or wellness checkup call is going to be your last
>Put under immediate investigation and leave when you have to take aggressive or defensive action for any reason
>Have to talk to literal mental insane people all day
>Have to defuse mental patient garbage all day long
>Have to make split second decisions on any call, you dont know when
>If you call for backup your backup might be ineffective
>have to escort female police who shouldnt be doing the job / are incompetent

Atleast with the military you dont have 5-8 of those things at all times. You dont get the GI bill or VA loan as a cop. You get less respect. You get schizos and random people who live in your neighborhood to be your sworn enemies. Its shit. If you are a cop the military is an out.

>Intel:
Depends heavily on your field. I just got hit up for an FMV analyst position, pic related. Looks like shit, but from what I understand GEOINT is pretty low on the intel field totem pole, and FMV is the bottom of that field. SIGINT is where the money is.
Disclaimer: I was never intel, I just worked with them.

>Cyber:
Four years and a clearance is fine for defense contracting. Add certs and a degree and you're the ideal candidate. That would be sort of the minimum to break into the private civilian market though.

>Space Ops:

Air force would be best, if the space program is anything to go by.

I don't think those YouTube interview "whistleblower" people are genuine but programs like Solar Warden and DUMB bases probably exist

The ground all of this stuff stands on is from Gary McKinnon "hacking" (probing unsecured servers of) the DoD and NASA and finding reports of "off world officers" tied to ships that didnt exist and pictures of advanced spacecraft
He is definitely authentic considering the lengths the US went to to try and extradite him

The best claims made against what he found are either that he was lying about his findings (although the "hack" itself was real) or that what he found were space themed DnD roleplaying campaign sheets and reference photos

I would assume either Air Force Navy or Space Force
I would lean Air Force but all the stuff Gary McKinnon found was tied to the Navy aswell as most "UFO" sightings being tied to the ocean deep lakes and the Navy

In the end I would still assume it would be some kind of joint operation with intrabranch recruiting
Probably some sort of Air Force or Navy nuclear engineering MOS would be the easiest way in

>Coast Guard SWAT
Now that sounds based. Port Security is already cool, but those guys are like mini-SEALs.

They are the SEAL team 6 of DSF.

Navy handles the Secret Space program. Space Force is like NASA....the civilian "out in the open" space program.

I'm currently in one of the hardest enlisted pipelines and I realize why I find it easy.

My entire childhood was already a selection process. I wouldn't of had survived that shit if I wasn't capable of dealing with adversity.
