They do work but the only realistic use case is against a swarm at close (<3km) range. In practice you cannot use them for drones that come in small waves because you just don't have enough power to blast it every 5 minutes

There's a pretty massive amount of room for them to increase in price before hitting a point of not being worthwhile compared to alternative options.
