While it is best to avoid messing with recoil system unless you dramatically change the load, slide weight, or add comp or porting. If you put in a heavier spring, and it cycles, reliably, when the mag is full and when it is empty, and the mag locks back, reliably, many times, with that load. Sure why not.

The Luckygunner tests aren't the end-all, be-all. They used an M&P9C with a 3.5" barrel as their test gun for 9mm. You can even see from their photos that the 147gr HSTs failed to expand because they used a gun that wasn't meant for that particular load. Federal HST is their law enforcement duty load meant for 4-5" barrels.
Anonymous No.64391877 >>64391965

That's a new change circa 2019. Before that the 147s were widely considered the best do it all load in 9mm by many as they performed well from all typical barrel lengths 3" and up. They made changes to the projectiles to improve AG performance. That's a bit of a shame for most as it means that you now have to use snappier ammo in an already tiny gun

I'm new to EDCing and pistols in general, help a moron out
I bought a shield plus some time ago and the store threw in some kydex IWB holster, I think it said Saya on the bag or something like that.

It was my understanding that there are basically two common styles of IWB carrying, AIWB and 4-o'clock
I was sure I'd end up carrying AIWB because it seemed more easily accessible, I was told it's the more "concealed" option of the two, it's less likely to be snatched without me noticing and I can't count the times I saw someone carries 4-o'clock because their shirt got under the gun.
TL;DR I was told 4-o'clock is more comfortable and appendix is more concealable.

But after EDCing for a while I found AIWB very unpleasant throughout the day (including the cross-draw variant which I also tried) and could only reliably conceal the shield with the flush mag.
And in stark contrast, 4-o'clock wasn't just MUCH more comfortable whether sitting, standing or moving (I notice it but it doesn't bother me) but I also have no trouble concealing the shield even with the extended 13-round mag.

So here's my actual question, what am I doing wrong? IS there something I might be doing wrong?
Since I'm new to carrying I have no frame of reference, I have no idea if it's me that's doing something wrong, if it's a shitty holster, if it's my body type (skinny-fat) or maybe it's just personal preference.
I still don't like the idea of having my gun behind me and would like to see if I can make some variant of appendix work, but the alternative is less effective and unpleasant

Get an enigma rig, it allows the gun to be placed independent from your belt line for higher or lower ride, with a small short gun you can ride it lower. Having the gun lower means when sitting it isn’t jabbing into your gut at the cost of the grip not being so easy to grab. With the enigma I adjust ride height throughout the day deepending on what I’m doing

Or see if you get some deeper clips for your holster

>That's a bit of a shame for most as it means that you now have to use snappier ammo in an already tiny gun
I mean I get it, but tiny guns 3" aren't supposed to be your primary means of defense. Glock 19 was the CCW gold standard for years until all of a sudden people decided it was too big once the P365 came on the market. Glock even made the G48 so you could have the same barrel length as the G19 in a slimmer package, but people still prefer the G43X and other tiny guns. It used to be common knowledge that subcompacts were backup guns to your primary compact or fullsize IWB carry. Now people think magazine capacity trumps everything while glossing over terminal performance and how JHPs were engineered to work.

a hollow point just makes a slightly bigger hole. And it may fail to do so for a variety of reasons that include barrel length.
Ammunition manufacturers are also just like every other company in the modern day; trying to save costs by cutting corners.
Hornady got caught lying about the performance of one of their 7PRC loads after they changed the components to save money.
So when you buy ammo you really have no idea what you're getting unless you made it yourself.

Everyones daily outfits and body shapes are different anon, use what works for you not what a spreadsheet says. I wear a lot of buttondowns, and appendix just seemed to get caught on them more than a tshirt. Make sure you're actually doing draw drills with the cloths you wear especially with fall around the corner. I found I had to completely adjust my draws for my winter/fall jackets by grabbing my right jacket pocket with my support hand and bringing it up and out of the way or I'd end up getting my gun caught on it 1/3rd the time. Because everyone universally seems to think their carry belt is awesome I don't think it really matters which one you pick, just pick the one that you would want to actually wear the most.

Anyways heres me with my 509c with 15 round mag in trying my best to make it print and it's still basically invisible. The holster, shirt, and belt you use matters a lot more for printing than the gun itself.

With modern designs you get 10+1 in a smaller package vs J frames 5 rounds. I think that's as good of an argument for obsolescence as any. Even though it is objectively obscelete it's still viable if you already own one, but I don't think anyone should reccomend buying one over a BG 2.0 or microcompact of your choice if the sole purpose is to be a tiny carry pistol.

J-frames shine as a backup gun for close range scenarios.

>no OOB malfunctions
>harder to prevent from going bang in grappling
>harder to disarm
>ammo trouble? pull the trigger again

All these qualities make them far from obsolete. I'd argue guys who carry microcompacts would be better off carrying a nyc reload j-frame rather than a spare mag.

That doesn't mean it's not viable, just that there are other better options for 99% of users and use cases. But the real reason that you’re not understanding is that people trust certain ammo and certain guns to defend their life. If anyone differs, critiques their choice, it criticizes their most critical decisions and they’ll arguing about it personally. It’s like cars but not as serious, cars are a huge purchase so people research and come to a decision. Anyone telling them they bought the wrong car or ammunition, is like telling them they’re retarded. It passed Ben Stoeger's test of 10k rounds. Unfortunately for me it's slide design does not fit in my expensive 2011 leather holster so I have to use a Floodlight 2 hence the X300.

When I get home at 2am EST I'll post a pic of my QVO bodyguard 2.0 holster in my relatively tight small pocket scrub pants and the tightest elastic jean pockets I own later, but I think it does a very good job breaking up the print. The hook draw system works perfectly in every pair of pants I own and 4/6 pairs of shorts I've tried. 15 seconds in is when the hook demonstration is. https://youtube.com/shorts/Ivnt4BIr_5w?si=dzMBmRxZ3iAScnvo

Their quality and QC isn't much better than Tisas for 2x the price, but what you pay for is features Tisas lacks and a warranty service that if you do send the gun back you will get it back in a much better state than when you bought it new since they will have gunsmiths polish it up for you. Up to you if the extra $400 sounds with it for that, if not Tisas uses all forged parts unlike Springfield's MIM and you can get most models for under $400

It's genuinely fucked how good they feel in the hand. Thing Meister does a great job and I wish they made grips for guns folks actually care about instead of making shockingly good quality meme grips for hi points. My stock JXP10 grips had a gap between them and the frame and it would pinch the webbing of my thumb every shot, so while I was sort of forced into getting them I'm very glad I did.

If you have the scratch, buy American. It’s just the right thing to do, but I would recommend buying used and looking for higher tier 1911s.

Still better than being caught on federal property though (where a lot of the work is done.)
I can conceal very well and there weren't metal detectors last time I did this sort of work (it would make things so slow to search everyone) but this was over ten years ago. Let's talk about something else. I have to have a melt down and it's done now. I had nowhere else to do it.

250 rounds through my 20x bobcat, had to call it short at the range, and got distracted showing a buddy the basics of trap shooting when he wrapped up with his handgun anyways. Kind of a welcome distraction, I was experiencing a lot of light strikes, failures to fully cycle, and failures to eject. Only twice did I have to use a knife to pry the brass out, it only took a few seconds as opposed to the stories I've heard of folks having to spend several minutes trying to get it free. Reliability improved over time, and I was expecting a break in period of about 150 rounds.
>Used cci minimags, consensus seems they are the bobcat's favorite
>Underloaded the magazines, consensus is that on the older models if you overloaded them with the extra space or even just fully loaded them, it could cause issues on your second shot, haven't heard much about that with the 20x but played it safe
>Fucking BABIED the gun with some balistol and q-tips for the barrel every 40-60 shots or so

My plan right now is
>Get at least another 250 or so rounds through it and see how much things improve, probably try federal punch and velociters to see if my particular gun has a better appetite for those
>After that, polish the barrel and chamber or have a gunsmith do so when I drop off a Rossi
>Pick up a suppressor (already paid for) when the transfer tax drops, am sure this will help with the gas cycling and might even fully resolve the ejection issue

Any anons here have feedback on my current plan, or recommendations on other things to try?
>Inb4 ditch it
I know some of you love to hear yourselves talk. Spare me. This is a range toy, this is me dipping a toe into semi-auto ownership, this is a .22 because it is cheap and fun to practice with, I like that it looks cool. I know bobcats have a reputation for being finicky, I also know friends to swear by their dependability and many owners have zero issues. I am not a quitter faggot, just looking for tips as I try to dial it in.

I just prefer revolvers, they suit my needs, I am familiar and competent with them. If I can get this bobcat to purr for me I will probably grab something in 9mm or .45 ACP next year; maybe an M9 or a clone, but that's not on my mind quite yet.

Yeah, I realize that. It's just that "better jobs" tend to be corporate and, well, I run afoul of pic related. After the literal faggot ran my last company into the ground (he was getting goodgoy bux for being "minority owned" as a white homo, but trump ruined that) I tried a corporate gig with good benefits and better pay and the psychopath manager detected that I wasn't a normie and ran me out. I can't fake normal no matter how hard I try. My new manager worked with me for years as a client for my old old job, he's not going to be a problem.
Maybe I can find a side gig I can turn full time. Who knows?

I know I just made a long post about struggling with a new (and mostly improved) tip-up Beretta mouse gun..... But they do have a 21a bobcat in .25, and I think the jetfire is too, and allegedly neither have the same sphincter-aches because it's a more reliable and less dirty round. Worth a look, probably.

It's the hood. That's even worse. As I said, I'll probably just leave a gun in the car anyway. The least risky scenario. No federal charges, won't appear on camera, the lot is gated and barb wired. I'll only be vulnerable at work, but it's never than nothing.
>>64398374
And I'll be sure to not leave it in my driveway.
If this becomes a plan I'll get a car safe but let's see how this pans out. I was supposed to start tomorrow but now it's Thursday due to equipment issues. That might be a good thing, but whatever. It means they're fixing the issue I found. This gets better and better. I'm starting to identify with the zoomers.

I typically don't carry at work because it gets in the way (I do real work) even though I have seen my boss buy a gun from an employee in the shop before. Also, guys work on their guns and just bring them in to show off. Oddly, I feel quite safe because I know a lot of them do carry. But yeah, I think your idea is probably pretty solid. I'd still look for work elsewhere since it has so many negative things against it.

No, imo it's a factor for carrying a hangun that is too often omitted, some jobs involve physical activities that may compromise concealment. For example, doing IT, there are jobs where I sit at the desk or in a meeting room and walk between those locations, and there are jobs where I might need to climb under that desk or up a ladder to access some equipment, doing real, hardware, work. In second case there are a lot more restrictions on size, weight, concealability, and retention.
